I bought my first bedroom set on Friday and am eagerly awaiting delivery.

Yesterday evening I was vegging and catching up on taped shows and I saw a commercial for the place that I bought my furniture advertising a free tv with different levels of purchases. I paused the show and saw that there was one offer for a free tv with certain furniture packages, and another that stated that you get a free 42" plasma tv with a purchase of any regular priced furniture over a certain dollar value.

I called today because the sales person didn't mention that offer to me on Friday, and I saw online that this special started on Oct 11, and I ordered on Oct 15th.

They checked and the end result is that I'm getting a FREE 42" Samsung Plasma TV!!!

I have no idea where I'm going to put that yet, living room or bedroom.

According to everything I read about Plasma vs LCD, that Plasma is best viewed in low lighted areas because it tends to reflect the light. My living room has a bank of windows and is bright during the day so it might be problematic to view. In the bedroom it's more muted because I keep the blinds pulled so it might be better viewing in there. I could get my brother to anchor it on the wall opposite my bed, but I'd have to see how the dresser mirror fits with the wall because that would be the same wall with the TV on it.

Now I'm even more excited about my furniture arriving!!!

They had no choice but to be honest. The ad specified the dollar value you had to spend, and I exceeded it.

I know it was an oversight on the sales guys part. I dealt with him on the telephone while looking at a web site and had a number of questions, so it was easy to miss. I'm just glad that I happened to see the commercial. I'd have hated to have missed out on a free television because I've been wanting to get a second television and that was going to be another purchase I made by spring next year. So now I don't have to spend money to buy it.

I have a plasma tv and have never had that problem.

I love free stuff, especially when it's something that I've been wanting or needing.

I'm more excited about the TV than I am about the furniture!

Congrats on the TV Linda. Good thing you saw the ad!

If you are looking for a wall mount, Costco has them at a pretty good price. I just had one done in my spare bedroom. Make sure you get the one that gives you more motion features. I was unaware of the differences but my friend who was with me helped me choose one that would allow greater freedom of movement, i.e., tilt up/down/sideways and in/out.

Are they hard to install? The TVs are heavy, how do you prevent them from pulling the hardware out of the wall from the weight?

That's awesome news about the surprise tv!!

As far as the tv goes, I would personally just put it on a stand or a piece of sturdy furniture if you can. If you want to mount it, you might want a little help. Is there any way that your brother would be able to install it for you? They can be a little difficult to put up (my sister used to have one in her bedroom)

You would likely need your brother or a man friend to install the wall mounts for you. My friend did mine for me. They wouldn't leave a large hole in the wall at all - nothing more than what one would use for a large picture which most apartments owners expect as normal wear/tear/living.

The TV's actually aren't that heavy at all. I have a 52" in my living room and the bedroom one is 42". I was able to easily carry the 42" myself. Mine are both Panasonic Vieras so I'm not certain if they would be much different than what you are getting in the weight department.
