I just wanted to let everyone know that Stan passed in his sleep last night.

He had gotten extremely weak during the day and by night could not walk. We had made the decision earlier in the day to take him in in the morning have have him PTS. I was sitting with him last night just petting him and saying my goodbyes before we went to bed, he gave me a little headbutt and then went to sleep. About an hour later he stopped breathing.

We took him with us to my parents house and buried him beside the shed, in the spring we'll plant some sort of tree near him like we do with our other pets.

I'm sorry. You all tried so hard. But he was loved to the very end.

Condolences on losing your Stanley. It sounds like he knew your decision and realized that he had your permission to leave - play happily over Rainbow Bridge, Stanley
Feel free to PM me or any of the other members here, because we've all been exactly in the place that you are in now. I was really pleased that Stanley's final resting place will be at your folks' - I bring my kits home, and it really helps. My RB dog, Tasha & my horses wound up at the county dump, and while I know it doesn't mean anything to their spirits (they're in a Better Place), I have nothing but the clouds and sky to visit when I want to think of them

Thanks everyone, he's the fourth pet I've ever lost (minus all the fish, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, etc). 3 years ago I had to put my 13 year old big ol collie/shep mix down, we had him cremated and his remains are in a little wooden box at my parents house. 6 months after he died my 18 year old big, fat, diabetic calico cat had to be PTS - she had a stroke. We didn't lose a pet again until this summer, in August my 13 year old big ol gray girly cat died at home when no one was there. We buried her in the backyard and planted a lilac tree over her. Now it was Stan's turn. I'm very happy he died at home, it was more comfortable for him as well as us.

Tipper (the dog) and Frisco (the cat) share a japanese cherry blossom tree. Not sure what kind we'll do for Stan just yet.

I am so sorry you lost your sweet Stanley.

Down through the years, I have lost a good many kitties. But as the time went by, I found that we really do carry them in our hearts. I can put my hand on my heart and feel them living there.

God bless you and your boy. He is in very good company at the Bridge.
