Just witnessed the strangest thing..!

Hi as some of you might know I foster cats and kittens so I have 5 total right now.

I have 2 polydactyl cats, one is a kitten and one is the father.

I have 3 other cats all of which are female.

I have a cat tree that has lots of toys hanging on it.

Well I was sitting in my room watching tv, and I heard this strange and painful yowling noise. At first I ignored it, but the second time it was louder so I ran into the den where the cat tree is.

The poly kitten was stuck to one of the toys. His extra toes were tangled in the..dangly furry things hanging off this weird mouse..thing.

anyway, he was yowling in pain, and every other cat in the house was also circled around him, yowling and growling.

I've never seen this before...! What was happening?

I raced to him and easily untangled him, and then all the cats ran to him and began sniffing him, then everyone went on their way.

Some of those toys are outright dangerous.

Wesley is a pica monster, and he almost instantly chewed off the string from one of those dangly toys and almost ate it before I stopped him. I then researched and found reviews of others experiencing the same issues, some of which resulted in very expensive vet bills.

Getting trapped like that also could have created a huge issue had you not been there. Had the cat panicked and been trapped long enough unable to free himself, he would have been under extreme stress and possibly redirected aggression towards one of the other cats who may have returned that hostile posture and to them freakish behavior with aggression in turn that would last long after the cat had been released! O_O

So personally, aside from a few toys I know to be very safe, I only bring them out for supervised play.
