Today is a medical question:

Since this is flu shot season, do you get annual Flu Shots

I have had only one in my life and it had a bad affect on me so I never got another one. What about you.

Because I have COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) I have to get flu shots each year and a pneumonia shot every 2 years.

Nope. Unless I'm at the hospital around flu season I won't even catch the flu. (handwashing doesn't work if you get crammed into a smaller room with coughing and sneezing people who don't cover their mouths and noses)

I do, religiously, even tho' half the time I still end up getting the flu---usually in February, for some reason. My allergy doctor told me years ago that I actually am allergic to cold and flu viruses, meaning that when I get sick with one or the other I get incredibly sick. I understand a 'normal' person gets over the flu within 3 or 4 days; I'm sick for a week and a half.

Mandatory for me as I work with the elderly in the winter months, and I have COPD.

I had one when I worked at the hospital, and I didn't fare well with it so I didn't get another one. Due to other chronic health problems I probably should get one every year (my doctor would insist on it) but I refuse. I have yet to ever get the actual flu.

Nope. I like to rely on my own immune system. I try to keep it strong. Everyone I know who gets a flu shot gets sick a couple of days later. I'd rather avoid that.

This is exactly why I don't get flu shots, my sister got one and she's been sick ever since. She had to back to the Dr. and now is feeling better. I just don't trust those flu shots.

That's a vaccination reaction. Just like how cats react to certain vacs, so can humans. They are not getting the flu, you cannot get the flu from a dead or live modified virus that cannot reproduce itself.

Some people get a minor reaction - their immune system reacting to the vac as if they had gotten the virus naturally. They'll feel a bit off/sickly. Others immune systems overreact and there can be serious side effects.

Having had the flu several times in the past 7 years, I've been getting flu shots for the past 3. This year, I missed the shot! I've been sick for a month with allergies; I missed the 1-day flu clinic at the doctor's, and now the stores are no longer giving them. I was sure, with the coughing, sneezing and runny nose they'd refuse me (they do if you've had anything respiratory within 7 days. I even got turned away once for mentioning I had a sinus headache!)

Never have, no intentions to ever get one either.

I got the flu once when I was 16, and once when I was 20 I think (cant remember now).

I do not. My dad got one and said it hurt bad so no thank you. I am pretty healthy anyways and have only had the flu bad when I was younger.

Both hubby and myself get them every year.Neither of us have ever had a reaction to them other than a sore spot at the injection site for a day.I've had the flu a couple of times in my life and much prefer the shot!
