Can cats get alzheimer or senile? I have an 11 yr. old feral that I think is getting senile or has alzheimers. It took me 6 yrs. just to get her to trust us enough so she would come in the house when it's cold or nasty out. Now that she is more or less settled in (I still can't touch her) I've noticed that she isn't acting right. At first I thought maybe she was going blind, but now it looks like she may be confused or disoriented. She is eating well and besides a little kitty cold she is doing ok. I wish I could take her to a vet but there is no way I could get her in a carrier much less out and have the vet handle her too, and besides she is an old lady and I don't think I want to put her through the stress unless it becomes so bad that it is effecting her quality of life.
Any suggestions? Has anyone heard of anything like this?

It is called Feline Cognitive Disorder, here is a link to an article http://www.catsplay.com/thedailycat/...cognitive.html

This doesn't necessarily mean your cat has FCD, btw... I am not a vet and can't tell you either way
I have little experience in FCD but I have a friend who has a 14 year old cat that is exhibiting signs of confusion, crying, etc and getting lost. Is there anyway you can have a vet come to the house?
