Trapping vibes - and trap questions!

Anyone have one of the hav-a-heart fold up traps? We're not sure what happened, but ours is no longer working correctly. Gary thought he got it fixed - but this morning one of the females we've been trying to trap FINALLY went in to eat the food - and the trap didn't trip!

We really wanted to get her in to be spayed ASAP. And now we've got this storm about to roll through, which upsets everything and we won't trap in the rain....

The trap at the vet is NEVER there, and the two local groups we work with are actively trapping...

I don't know whether to ask for trapping vibes - or for "be able to fix the trap" vibes!

Never mind. Maybe just send a few "be able to fix the trap vibes." There's a Nor'easter on the way and it's started raining. Won't be able to work on the problem until Saturday or Sunday.

Fix the trap, Laurie!

I also hope your feral friend finds a dry place to hide until the storm passes!

I've had traps that were temperamental about tripping. I have a Tomahawk personally, and if your Havaheart is like mine, the clip to hold the door open can be adjusted a bit to trip easier. I don't put the door at the base of the clip, but rather towards the front of it. That allows me to catch lighter weight cats.

Sending that you can get your trap working!!

Well, once again the trap didn't trip, and BOTH females went in to eat (adjusted the trap inbetween). It seems to be tripping on a hair trigger right now (testing by tapping with a stick) - and one of the females has been circling the trap and is now squatted down at the entrance, "meatloafed" peering in there.

Could use some serious vibes to TRAP THOSE CATS!

Well, we trapped one of the females! It wasn't the grey & white mommy of the kittens the foster network recently took in, it was the female filling out - don't know if she's pregnant or just "winterizing." We'll find out Monday.

Congrats on your first success. Sending more trapping vibes for the other!

Thanks Amy!

The trap is a folding Have-a-hart. Gary just bent the arm that leads to the trip platform a bit. Apparently he got it right this time, seemed to do the job.

Vet's not open tomorrow, so we don't try again until Monday.

Well now what the heck do we do? She's BEEN spayed! No microchip, and she's been around here for a while. (No wonder she never turned up with kittens!). We checked up at the office, and no one's reported having left a kitty behind. We'll have to make up posters to see if she's gone missing from one of the neighbors - but there aren't a lot around here.

I wish we had room to foster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, got out "FOUND STRAY" cat notices to ALL the homes around here (easy to do because it's all roadside boxes in this area). Asked up at the Park office, and they said someone DID notify them of a cat lost here last Fall! The office is officially closed, so the owner ran in to look at the fax the people sent up - and someone had taken it down!!! Obviously a staff member cleaned up the bulletin board when the park closed for the season. If this is that cat - we may never be able to reunite her with her family.

There is good news, however. WE TRAPPED THE OTHER FEMALE THIS MORNING! She bonked like no cat we've ever trapped before has, and thank goodness we've got gloves, or Gary would have been scratched to hell, and I'm just thankful the folding trap held up under all of that!

Hopefully no one dumps any cats out this way, because right now I'm 99% confident we'll be looking at NO WINTER KITTENS!

Congratulations on the trapping! It's so rewarding to catch that one untrappable cat!!! Thanks so much for caring

Wonderful. I had a problem with a trap as well. It's the type with the door that lifts up via a handle on the top. Apparently the piece that comes down to hold the door was loose and he pushed his way out. Have not been able to get the young male to go into it again.

Yeah, that's a problem if the trap tripped but they escaped! for trapping him!

Stray has been around to eat. SIGH OF RELIEF.

But.... we still haven't seen Mommy. Doesn't mean she hasn't been here. ....but we haven't seen her.

I am sure Mommy is there also, I hope you get to see her tomorrow

I remember after we TNRed Patches initially, that we didn't see her for over a week and I was worried sick about her. She came back eventually.

Still no Mommy. Gary doesn't ask anymore, and I don't tell him - it's breaking his heart.

This makes me so sad. I still hope she will show up

I just really hope it's that she's here at different times than she used to be so I'm just not seeing her.

MOMMY WAS HERE!

....and she looks GREAT! Her ear-tip is healed up, her coat is (pretty) clean and shiney, and she doesn't look skinny, so she's been here and eating.

*giant sigh of relief*

Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God

I am jumping up and down with joy and hapiness, what a blessing! So she came around just not when you were looking, like you hoped.

I AM SO HAPPY she is safe and well

Is Gary happy?
