cats detect/protect us from spirits?

Lavender incense, candles, the flower itself. Anything, personally we did all three, but that's because I LOVE the smell of it. But yes your cats (from my experience alone) will be very clingy and affectionate, enjoy it! I miss having my babies in bed with us but now that the issue is taken care of they are having more fun being with each other and tramping through the house like only cats can. They will be really sweet and try to make you as "safe" as they can in their eyes. They are doing what a loyal dog wishes they could do but in their own way.

I don't think I saw anyone mention this, but perhaps the problem in your bathroom is a high electromagnetic field. All electrically charged objects have an electromagnetic field and some objects can give off stronger field. So maybe something in your bathroom is giving off a high EMF.

I bring this up because some people are sensitive to EMF and it can cause feeling of being watched or even seeing and hearing things that are not really there. I'm sure if humans can be sensitive to that sort of thing then out kitty cats probably are too. I'm far from an expert of any of this but the whole EMF thing popped into my head when you mentioned it was mostly in your bathroom. I'm sure you could find a MUCH better explanation of it online somewhere.

Anyways I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in for what its worth. I'm also a believer in the paranormal but to me it wounds like the whole EMF thing might be a factor for you. Personally, I'd rather deal with an electrical problem then a ghost problem.

Oh I just saw that strange_wings touched on this subject a bit!

I agree with WiccanKittyLove. I wouldn't use sage yet either and if you do have a spirit, be nice to it. Ask it nicely to move on.

I believe that all animals can see things and know things that we don't. Their senses are just so much greater than ours. Pandora always seems to read my mind and Lilly is extremely protective, even though she's still very young.

Totally not related to anything paranormal: The other day, my husband wasn't feeling well. He went to lay down in bed and fell asleep. He was so quiet that Lilly forgot he was home. (My husband is not home very often. He works long hours) All of a sudden my husband coughed and Lilly was instantly on alert. Her tail got huge and she started growling. She slowly stalked down the hall to "get" the intruder. I told my husband that he needed to wake up and talk to his kitten before she attacked him. LOL

You keep saying "since we moved in" how long have you been living there? I agree it could be EMFs screwing with you and the cats. It takes cats a bit to adjust to some EMF turbulances and perhaps this is whats going on, they dont understand and they want to be with you. But honestly, check that out first before you go and try to banish a spirit (which could turn out bad if you have no idea what you are doing) and even if you do have a spirit you might be able to live at peace with it, and sometimes it might come in handy...

I lived in this old house in Akron OH with my twin sister before i met my husband, we had a spirit of an old lady in the house. We know this because we seen her many times. My sister has 4 children and one night we were running late and the kids went to bed before we got home because "the nice old babysitter said it was bedtime and she tucked us in" The children's father had been out in the garage working on the car and lost track of time, but the ghost didn't and she tucked the boys away for bed for us. She also answered the door for our elderly neighbor when he come over and he left because he had know the lady in life and was shaken up so bad. But she was a kind soul who just wanted to help with the children. My sister and her family still live there.

I think I'm lucky that my cat never made me feel scared about spirits, Charlie doesn't want to sleep in my bed on the first few hours of our sleep but I always find him peacefully sleeping beside me when I wake up in the middle of the night.

I do believe animals can see/sense spirits.

I've lived in my house all my life, and for 1 year on and off we kept seeing a ghost cat. We never saw it before, and never saw it again. Lynxx was here at the time. Lynxx didn't respond to it. It never seemed to appear with Lynxx in the room at the same time. The cat looked just like Lynxx.

I woke up saw "Lynxx" laying on my desk where he knows he's not allowed. I jumped out of bed, went to pick him up to get him off of there. Only when I reached for him he just faded. I ran out of my room and Lynxx was sound asleep under the Christmas tree.

We were going to visit relatives in another state for a week. We dropped Lynxx off at the place where he was being boarded. My mother saw "Lynxx's" shadow on the wall jump onto her bed. She felt the weight of him on the bed. But when she sat up to pat him, he wasn't there. We told her we already dropped him off.

My father doesn't believe in ghosts. Laughs at me because I do. I had Lynxx at the bottom of my bed sound asleep. I heard my father talking to him. I told him Lynxx was with me. He jumped out of his bed ran into my room saw Lynxx sleeping. He insisted he saw "Lynxx" at the bottom of his bed. I only ever saw my father that afraid 1 other time.

The place where my mother works used to be an old mill. We had to stop there to print something on the weekend. We were the only 1's there. Midnight was with us because he just got his claws clipped. I carried Midnight around giving him a tour. There's a room in back that I've never had a problem being in, but my mother thinks it's creepy. Anyway I started down the hallway towards that room. I felt Midnight stiffen in my arms. That's when I heard what sounded like footsteps coming out of that room, towards the hallway we were in. I got the impression of a man walking out. I just turned and ran back to my mother's office as fast as I could, then rushed her along so we could get out of there. I told her in the car. Midnight sensed something first, he stiffened before I sensed anything.

So I do believe animals can see/sense things.

my kitten does the same thing. when hes awake he likes to play and chase so anytime we move around the apartment he is hopping after us, paws a-swingin'. one day i came out of our bedroom (which faces the kitchen) and he was sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor as still as can be in the dark, just staring at the wall..i turned on the lights and it didnt phase him, so i said jericho what are you doin? and he didnt even flinch. so i walked over to him while talking to him and he still would not move, it wasnt until i was standing with my feet on either side of him that he finally looked up at me and then he ran into the living room and started playing like normal..it was odddd. and now from time to time he will just sit in our kitchen doorway and stare at completely nothing. he spends most of his time in there too, he will just walk in circles around the whole kitchen meowing and squeeking..its too weird lol. ive always thought our apartment was kinda creepy though, but so far i havent experienced anything so maybe its nothing and he's just weird haha

Power, frequency, and range matters. A fridge magnet won't stick unless almost touching for example. And if worried, the A/C powerlines in the home are more of a concern than your electronics. As someone else mentioned, EMF is also never subject to turbulent flow anymore than lightwaves. Thats physically impossible.

The nocebo effect (like placebo, but means 'I harm' rather than 'I please') is very well documented though. If you believe that EMFs from electronics can give you headaches for example, in some individuals they can manifest as such. In short, the more you focus thought on something, the more real it will become to that individual, even to the point of a physical response or hallucination in some cases.

BTW, I was recently reminded of this thread. I was sitting in the dark reading, when suddenly both of my cats were intently focused on something I couldn't see. Again and again, I couldn't figure out what they were so enthralled by. Started even getting chirps and trills and some pacing. I admit it did kind of freak me out as there was nothing there. Finally though I realized that my bookmark had a bit of chrome on the top that was reflecting light, but the reflection disappeared when I moved and only returned when I went back to the same posture!

Hi. I'm Vanessa. I have a 5 month old kitten named Baby or she kind of adopted that name herself because I always called her that lol. Baby just now was trying to protect me from some spirit by cuddling me and really trying to keep my attention by biting my fingers and also kissing them affectionately. Except she kept stopping to look at this one particular area in my room so she kept trying to get closer to me until she was practically on my neck. Mind you, she barely likes to cuddle, she will only cuddle on her own terms but she's still affectionate to me. Her mom Diamond also has a story to tell. Diamond or Baby was and still is always with me during this weird off time. Her mom Diamond, she tried to warn me one time about a very violent spirit that somehow got into my home. She was constantly trying to get out but didn't want to leave me alone in the house with this entity that I didn't see but I'm a sensitive so I felt it and I wasn't going to let it take my home away from me. My cat changed her mind and stayed in the house with me regardless of what she saw. I think i'm developing a psychic ability but I don't know that for sure because I just learned to feel with my body and this is where it gets creepy. In order to feel what my Diamond felt, I put my hands on the wall and I felt some intense vibrations that were negative. Instead of feeling it only with my hands, I somehow ended up feeling it with my body too and I felt some negative emotions in the atmosphere. The place where that entity couldn't enter was my bedroom. This get's weirder. I felt the vibrations then I started to hear them. It sounds like a washer in the rinse cycle but the washer wasn't going and the dryer wasn't going either. They were clean of clothes. Now this experience should tell you to never underestimate your beloved cat's abilities because I have two too. They protect me spiritually and I have dogs that protect me physically too. Know this that cat's are spiritual protectors and I havent been without one since I could remember. I've always loved cats. I didn't know why up until that time. My instincts are stronger now and my abilities are so and so. It's not really enough to say that I'm A Psychic yet but I hope that my instincts will be enough because I've tested them from July 9th all the way to October 2nd. They passed each time and has not failed me once. Every time something bad was about to meet me somewhere, my instincts will affect me through digestive problems. My stomach will bug the **** out of me until I take a different route or direction which I do now. My job is a fine example of how I came to trust my instincts because the manager was bad news. My instincts told me so, so I stayed away from her and I had to quit my job. It wasn't going to get better. Ever since I quit my job, my problems went away and lately, I havent heard or seen anything in awhile like spirits. They don't want me knowing that they are there in my home still so they kept their presence in the dark. Baby busted them. That's when she kept bugging me and behaved strangely but then I understood that she just told me that there was an uninvited spirit in my home. She's calm now. I told that spirit that it needed to go and not come back and it did because Baby is calm after I did that.  Diamond and Baby are my best back ups and they are my eyes to see what I can't see right now. I'm kind of a closed book to the spirit realm but I need to get back onto the horse in order to protect myself and those around me. I'm not going to pull "Ghost Adventures" or anything like that, instead, I'm going to reopen myself just enough so I could see what they are up to and what their intentions are. If they are up to nothing good, then i'll send them away. The only one that is invited is my guardian angel which I know is there. Here it is. Here I am telling you that cat's may be true guardians of the anctient Egyptian underworld or perhaps, guardians that simply live amongst us for their own joy of protecting your soul from bad energy. Do you believe now that your cat loves you and is guarding you while you sleep? because mine do. If you want to talk more, feel free to contact me. I'm no expert but I think I have enough experience to know this.

I wonder, though, since you say you wake up around the same time at night - could you have a neighbor that gets up to use the bathroom every night? (any older neighbors?) It could be that after not having people using the plumbing as much later at night that a neighbor suddenly getting up and flushing is causing the plumbing to make a bit of noise. (it shouldn't if the plumbing is in perfect condition...)

Try paying more attention to noises around your apartment and how they carry.

The house I lived in was pretty obvious. I and a few other people actually seen shadow figures in it. These were solid shadows, no light passed through them, and try as I might I could not recreate that in any way. I was scared at first, since I was 9 when we moved in, but over the years as I got older and used to it I gradually just ended up feeling more annoyed by it's pranks than anything. No one was harmed, there was nothing to fear. If there really is something going on, remember that you really do not have anything to be afraid of. Instead see it as a chance to investigate and learn.

the people that live above me, i have never seen them but yikes, they sure are foot heavy!

maybe that is what wakes me. i will start to pay more attention to the noises, try to learn instead of scare myself. my other cat isnt very attached to me, she is more lovey with my fiance. peaches is the runt, and she is seriously attached to my hip.

that is way creepy about the solid shadows, i have never seen that, ever. you know, i dont know why some people- including myself, are so afraid of paranormal stuff. i am creeped out and nothings even happen to me other than restless nights. im curious to know what kind of pranks were played on you?

this sounds so similar in some ways to my situation. My daughter who is 14 has been complaining since we moved in about her bathroom and the fact that it feels creepy etc. I always kind of rolled my eyes and said ok. We moved in about 5 months ag to this apartment I gave her the master bed and bathroom thinking it would be very nice to do that for her. My cat, Goku, who is always super happy and content to be around the house relaxing. In her room or mine or any room rrally. Never any wierd feelings other than my daughtr until this past wek. Goku started to yowl to go outside at first. Then he didnt want to. Ome back in, he got freaked out one day for. O apparent reason and started throwing himself at the windows trying to get out I suppose. Meowling and eyes wild. Tail poofed up! This has happened bow several times. He also looks around as though something is or was just there. Hes terrified! Also plastic bags rustling makes him freak out now as well never have we seen him this way its so puzzling and upsetting!

I have to share this hard to believe dream I had a month before my cat became infected with some type of chemicals/toxins. I'm very much a skeptic when it comes to anything to do with ghosts or the afterlife etc.. but I have now experienced a few really bizarre things through my dreams that make me question things. Here is one about my cat Binky.

I had a dream where I was standing in some type of valley as I remember the green grassy hills but it was not daytime it was early evening and there were all these black and white spotted (tuxedo) cats everywhere just like my Binky. I had a box in my hand and when I opened it, there was a shriveled tan coloured what looked to be hairless animal inside. I was not sure what kind of animal but it was not too big (maybe a cat).

I remember waking up thinking what add odd dream this was and why were there all these cats that looked like mine in it? I went to work that day telling one of my co-workers about how strange it was. It really made me feel weird.

A month later, no word of a lie, my cat got sick. Strange thing is I was at Winners (store) looking for a bed duvet cover and wanted one that was purple or dark in colour and I seemed to have stood in the isle trying to decide on 2 very different colours and types. One of them was a cheaper type that was very dark purple (made of cotton/rayon) and the other a more expensive and nicer material (not dark in colour at all). I don't know why, but I really had a hard time trying to select which one to buy and kept walking away and going back to pick up the dark purple one even though I knew the more expensive one would be better in the long run but I wanted purple so I bought the cheaper one.

Took it home and the next day after cleaning my apartment I put it on my bed over my duvet to see if I wanted to keep it (if it didn't fit or I didn't like it) but I just forgot about it and went on doing stuff and then went out for dinner. Later that evening I noticed my cat had slept on it as her fur was all over it so I pretty much knew I was keeping it and would put it in the wash in the next few days. By day 3 my cat starting acting crazy - eyes totally dilated with a crazy look in them, she was running around as though someone was chasing her and she was jumping around on weird stuff like the top of my TV dangling her paws over the edges with the crazed look in her eyes. I knew something was wrong with her and took her in to the vet. The vet took tests and deemed it to be behavioural and a few months later called it allergic to "environmental toxins". My poor Binky developed constant muscle spasms for which is now going to have to be on Prednisolone and Gabapentin to control for the rest of her life.

I believe the dream I had was a premonition and the thing in the box I opened was a diseased dead cat. Sounds strange I know but it seems as though I was getting a warning that something was going to happen to Binky but I didn't connect it to anything because I was not sure if my dream truly meant anything.
