So last night my boyfriend Jack got off work and came over to my apartment. He had a little four legged surprise in tow with him. I'm not sure who's more of a sucker, Jack or me!
Reguardless, the new fluffy addition is quite adorable! It's a cute little Chinese Dwarf Hamster.
I haven't had a hamster since I was a little girl, so it definitely brought back some good memories.
She is several months old now and has a very sweet personality (she isn't nippy at all, thankfully). As of right now I've been calling the poor thing "glue trap", so it's safe to say she needs a real name! The poor thing has been in the sick room at the pet store Jack works at for over a month because she escaped from her cage and got stuck on a glue trap. When one of the store animals gets injured, they don't sell them to the general public, but instead place them up for adoption to the associates and their friends once they've healed up and have been observed for a while. She is all healed up now and the fur has grown almost completly back! All she needed was a home!
Now she needs a name! I will post some pictures of her later

Right now I'm thinking of the following for names, but I'm open to suggestions! :

Paisley (that's my favorite so far)

Elmira (that was Jack's suggestion since it reminded him of Elmer's glue and she was found on a glue trap
)

Dolly

Sasha

I like Ming, since she's Chinese. I also like Waverly, who was a character in one of my favorite books. OMG, she's beautiful. Her pictures just came up....

I like the name Paisley but I also like nurseangel's suggestion of Ming. And your husbands name made me LOL. That would be cute too

Good Luck picking out a name!

I'm a big hamster lover and had fostered a pair of Chinese dwarf hamsters last winter. Unfortunately, they were from a bad situation and passed away due to illness and injuries. But, they were incredibly sweet. Chinese dwarves tend not to be nippy at all and are very social and inquisitive little creatures. "Glue Trap" (I can't believe I just wrote that
) seems like she's no exception. Congratulations on your newest addition.

I think, of all the names posted thus far, that I like Ming the most. I'm surprised, too, as that's not a name that I would typically go for. But, I think it's adorable. My second choice would be Paisley -- that's the type of name I'd usually consider first. Either name is precious and would suit your new little hammy perfectly. As long as you don't stick with her current, ahem, name...it would be all good!

Congratulations again. She looks very sweet and is cute as can be!

Oh she is so adorable. I used to have two guinea pigs years ago but I never had a hamster. I like Paisley for her name also, very cute. I'm so glad she is much better now.

Definitely Elmira. DD went to Elmira college in Elmira, NY which is just about 20 minutes from Ithaca NY where Cornell U. is which is where I and her father went.

And her new name is..........

Paisley

My niece Leedora & my sister Kimmy came over for a little while today and my niece wanted to help pick out a name for the new hamster.
She picked Paisley as her favorite name, (and it was my favoite too) so, my little "glue trap" is now "Paisley".

Tonight Jack and I took Ranger to his class and afterwards we picked up all of the things little Paisley would need here in her new home...cage, bedding, toys, chews, etc. I'll have to take a picture of her new diggs soon! It's pretty cute

Thankyou everyone for all of the input and help!
