I always have stories about Pirate because of the three cats I have, it seems that Pirate has the most colorful personality.
This is about Grace (passed away 07/09/10) and Pirate. Pirate was the only cat in the house when I took Grace in as a stray kitten. Pirate mothered her from the moment he met her. I have wonderful pics of Pirate with his front leg and paw wrapped around little Grace's head, as he licked her clean.
From the moment Pirate met Grace, they were two peas in a pod. Played and slept together, and Grace learn Pirate's ornery ways of teasing the other cats. They were always in cahoots about one thing or another.
Grace was spayed as soon as she was of age as a kitten, and Pirate was neutered at a year old, when I adopted him.
I'm curious how many people have cats with this behavior:
About 6 months before Grace passed away, Pirate started trying to mount her. As she lay lounging, Pirate would put the one paw on her upper back to hold her down as he tried to position himself behind her. I don't know if he was ever successful in sealing the deal when I wasn't around.
Grace would take this for a few moments, and then haul off and smack him away.
It never shied him away for long, for he continued to do this to her about every day or every few days, until she died. They never fought - she'd take it so long, then smack him, and he'd just wait for another day.
I searched the internet and discovered that cats will do this even though they are neutered. So, now that I'm on this forum, I'd love to know who here has a "randy" yet neutered cat? Like the saying, "a dirty old man," Pirate is a dirty old cat!
Pirate is 14 years old, btw, and Grace was 8. Dear Grace..RIP
Thanks for listening!

Cats can be odd sometimes (ok, often).
