I'm a new cat owner and recently took my ChooChoo to the vet for the first time. The vet gave me a 3 month supply of Revolution topical medication for $55. I'm wondering what my real medication options are for heartworm/flea prevention and where to get them cheaper. Any ideas? Thanks

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

Revolution is a prescription topical. If you try to buy it elsewhere and they don't require an RX then you shouldn't buy it. I've not really seen anything online, price wise, that isn't close to what my vet (and yours) charges for a 3 month supply.
The other options are Heartgard and Interceptor for cats. Discuss with your vet. Again, these are prescription medications.
For just flea preventive topicals there's Advantage and Frontline. These are non-prescription and can be bought in some stores and online. Always use caution if you choose to do so and call the companies to make sure any product you buy is legit as there are some issues with counterfeiting.
Generally, though, your vet's pricing should be fairly competitive for these products as well.

Are you in a area where Cats commonly get heartworm? I ask as heartworm preventive is a HIGH powered wormer and should be used with caution

We use Revolution on our cats, but they are indoor only and we don't have a flea problem, so I only apply it every 2-3 months. I use it because heartworms are very prevalent here. We also have fleas pretty much year round, unfortunately. The last time I bought it, I got it at Drs. Foster & Smith, http://www.drsfostersmith.com/defaul...3172&subref=AD . It was the cheapest place online and they had free shipping.
Other options for meds include Frontline and Advantage. I can't remember if either of those are prescription meds or not.
