Ok this is a goofy quwstion.... but I need this answered....

My neighbor downstairs was drilling this morning and the sound came from the corner of my living room. My cat sat there for awhile... then kept coming back all day sitting there and occasionally would lurk slowly to a bookcase (same corner)

He just did it again 12 hours after the noise..

Would he still be "looking" for the same noise? Or do u think there is something there... a huge nasty spider is my fear...

Thanks

He's still looking for the noise. He never caught the thing (the drill) he heard making it, after all.

Thank you ! ..... and God.

I have horrible arachnaphobia and that's all I could imagine was under/ behind my bookcase which is too close for comfort to my couch.....

12 hours later I was getting more and more sure something was going to run out and give me a heart attack... knew id get an answer here.

Well, it COULD be both Just kidding, but seriously, if it were a spider, you have nothing to worry about: cats are expert spider catchers. We had a few tiny webs in some corners and in our enclosed sunroom, but after 1 month of owning Memhpis, they're all gone

Don't be surprised if he revisits the spot for a couple of days looking for the source of the sound. They're so funny when they do that!

You dont know how much better I feel!

My cats arent that great with spiders.... unfortunately I know when I was in the bathroom - using the bathroom when a HUGE spider RAN in front of me (in a very small room).

I jumped up so fast... finished what I could - got my cat who was outside the door and put him in hte room and shut the door. (I dont like using sprays... and forget trying to squish them.)

2 minutes later he was scratching to get out. The spider was sitting behind him - I guess he was freaked too. Thank God, my bf was home and he got it...

thanks again!!!

Yeah, your cat wants to catch the drill. I don't blame you for freaking about it being a spider. I've got the arachnophobia bad too.

Don't you hate it when they stare at a spot like they see a bug, but you can't see anything? My Sarah does this all the time. She's always looking above my head when I am sitting in the living room, like there is a spider on the wall. I'm constantly looking around at all the walls now. Thanks Sarah!

I have spider issues as well. Once, Arthur came into the livingroom with a mouse in his mouth. Uh, wrong, it was a huge spider!!

I never kill anything, but if he had let it go, I would have had to sell the house and move away!

Killed it and it turned out to be harmless.

But I was weeping like a baby during the whole ordeal!!

I don't think your cat was scared of the spider. I think your cat was probably just wondering why you picked him up, put him in the bathroom, and locked him in. From my experience, anywhere you pick up and put a cat is a place they dont want to be.

While it's not that common, some cats don't like messing with certain insects - though I've never seen any back down from any arachnid (including scorpions ).

Some of mine don't like tiny beetles. They'll watch them from a distance but will jump away if the beetle comes to close. Several beetles do have some form of a defense scent, so many that's the cause - even if the other cats don't seem to notice it.

I've seen Sarah eat a spider. YUCK! We also get centipedes in the house often, but the cats don't eat them. They'll play with them until the centipede stops moving, or until I catch them doing it. The centipede is usually too injured to survive, and I'll kill it.

As a rule, I put bugs outside instead of killing them, however I confess although I am deathly afraid of spiders, I won't put them outside--I have them taken care of by my DH.

Speaking of Sarah looking at the walls...there she goes again as I'm typing. I don't see a thing, apparently she does...
