Now hey!!

I take those polls with a pinch of salt because how on earth can they get a proper reading from just interviewing a couple of thousand?!.

I honestly don't know if Brits moan more than any other country. I know a few moaners, and when i watch those Grumpy old men/woman programmes i can hear me in them
And sometimes i say things and i can hear my mother talking

As for the age factor, i'm laughing just as more now at 51 than when i did in my 20's because i think there was a lot of pressure then with mortgages etc... when really all i wanted to do was shop for clothes and go out.

When the men at work start whining i'll just tell them to stop banging their gums!

I get grumpy when Aussies put their two cents into a British thread!

I'm British and 59 and I probably don't laugh as much as I used to. I think I found life more amusing when I was a drinker.

Funny thing is, I find Brits to be absolutely hilarious. They have the best sense of humor and I still say that after having lived in the States since 1976.

So there.

ahhhh...NOW I get it!
That might explain why I giggle all the time. Or maybe I'm just trying to get all the giggles in before I'm 52!

Well that certainly doesn't apply to my BF who is from England (moved here in 2001), though he isn't 52 yet.. He lives for humor. Always has a joke, and is great with the sarcasm.

I wonder how they came up with the tidbit about the average Briton knowing only 2 jokes??? British comedy is the best!! Reeves & Mortimer, Little Britain, Fast Show, Harry & Paul, etc. etc. Laugh out loud funny!

Sarcasm is what a lot of us Brits can give and take. We don't take ourselves too seriously, but there are a few who do.

As long as it's not too personal i love sarcasm along with a good dry sense of humour

Do you get "Celebrity Juice" on t.v. over there?. If not and you do, watch it, it's hilarious!!

Isn't it just. You haven't got to be sensitive or a prude when that's on

I haven't seen or heard of Celebrity Juice. I'll ask BF about it. BBC America seems to have a lot of crap shows on these days, not a whole lot of comedy it seems, well sitcoms but not sketch comedy and that sort of thing. We have a region-free DVD player, so he's bought a bunch of Region 2 DVDs so we can watch UK stuff that hasn't made it over here (and probably never will... it wouldn't work here.)

It sounds like you would like BF if you like sarcasm and dry humor. That is him all over!

And then there's his overused joke for bartenders..
Bartender: "Hi.."
BF: "No, but I hope to be drunk soon!"

<groan...
> he's got so many like that, which i end up having to explain to people a lot of times..

Never heard of Celebrity Juice, but the show I loved the most was the original British version of The Office. I've watched it at least 3 times and laugh my head off every time. Also enjoyed Extras very much. Hated, hated, hated Little Britain.
