Hello everyone I am new to these forums, although I can see what caring and considerate people you are and I wish to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am quite young (16) although due to circumstances I live with a friend in an apartment the land lord is a very nice person. He does allow pets the other day I was helping him clean out some of the unused apartment we found some little kittens maybe about 9 weeks old they were malnourished.

We rushed them to the vets and they gave them some antibiotics and a few injections, now sadly the momma was no where to be found although these kittens seemed to be domesticated they were using the litter box. I wanted to give them all up but I could not after seeing their cute little eyes
. I go to college although I only go for 3 hours a day and 6 hours on the Monday.

I work for 4 hours a day apart from the Monday and 3 hours on the Weekend, thankfully I work for a very nice man and he does pay me well ^^. I have enough for vet bills, food and other toys for them there are 3 kittens in total. What I am trying to think of is the weaker one seems to have damaged his tail some how I am going to ask my friend to take him to the vets sadly they won't be open till tomorrow so any help would be grateful.

We have more than enough room for them, they get their own bedroom the funny thing is they are so cuddly and cute they will come up to you straight away and I have only had them for a few days ^^.

Sorry about the long post just wanted to tell how I got these wonderful kitties ^^.

Just a little warning, average vet cost per kitten for that first year is close to $300 (if you're lucky) for just vacs and spay/neuters. So while it's very admirable that you're being so responsible, and doing so at your age, please don't get in over your head. Focus on your schooling.

Can you describe the one kitten's tail problem a little better? Can he move it? Is there any sort of wound?

May want to look into low cost spay neuter clinics. If you use a decent one theres no reason to pay so much extra for something that can be done alot cheaper, If done as well

Make sure at least any girls are done early cause if its a mixed $ex litter they tend to come into heat earlier and even if no calling/signs the boys WILL KNOW!

About the tail-does it seem cold/painfull for the cat to handle if you touch? Was it like that day it went to vet or it got hurt after at your apartment? Any ideas of what happend(tail in door stepped on? If you think it was like that before you got them I would be worried about a injury by a car or other internal injuries

The OP is 16. Most programs require that the owner of the animal being spay/neutered be 18 (has to do with signing legal agreements). Their friend would have to do it for them, and only if they didn't exceed the maximum income allowed for it.

not all are income required. Both the ones I used are not. It was just a thought to save money. If she keeps them or not it would be ideal they be fixed before placement.

Also I was under age for quite a few of my cats getting fixed but no one ever checked id. Paid cash and never brought age up.

Hey everyone it's me again by the way I am a guy, I don't have to worry about schooling I am not easily distracted. Two of the kittens are female the other is a male. Money is no problem at all it would only take me about a week to cover the costs seeing as my friend has agreed to help raise them god bless her ^^.

Don't worry I was raised around cats and now what and what not to do, I am going to get them spayed and neutered soon enough although I will allow the little guy to enjoy his manhood for a little while
. Now about the cats tail when I touch it he lets out a low meow his tail was a little weird when we found him although I did not pay much attention to it neither did the vet -.-'.

I am guessing he must of hurt it some where in the apartment, although we keep the place clutter free and the cats can only hide in a select few places. We have already cat proofed most of it and it's open living so I am stumped on how he hurt it in the first place.

Now I hope you don't mind me saying one more thing how on earth do I stop them from following me, wherever I go they go heck they even strolled into the shower while I was inside it I thought cats hated water! Oh and on another note I am going to keep them forever

Sorry about the long post ^^.

Shut the door.
Or put them up in a room for a bit. They're young kittens who are human socialized - they'll always follow you.

You do have a few weeks to wait on the spay and neuter. Get their vacs and deworming done and their weight up. Then you can talk to the vet about doing the male before 6 months if your vet is picky about that.

Your male kitten meowing when you touch his tail isn't very descriptive - some cats will meow when their tails are touched because they hate having their tails touched. If you can have the roommate hold him later, try to carefully but thoroughly inspect it. It's possible that one of his sisters bit his tail.

They follow you because you are mom now. Be extremely careful not to step on any.

Another thing, since they follow you everywhere, be very diligent in putting down the toilet seat! Kittens are very curious. You will have to kitten proof your place.

Far as the tail its good he has feeling as opposed to being dead. I would bring in for exam to be sure. Kitten I found had been hit by car with dead tail and broken pelvis(for starters
My one kitten got his tail injured for the day by getting in a cabinet and when he got out cabinet hit him

Is he still as playful as the others? If the vet didn't say anything I wonder if it was born like that-call and ask if anything was noted for the tail.

Far as the shower good luck. If they are in room being kittens they will try to see EVERYTHING.

About the vet-wasnt implying you would have an issue-just a heads up of saving some money and putting it to possible better use(maybe a huge cat tree

I actually prefer my clinic vet cause shes MUCH more experienced then any regualr vet in amount of spay/neuters
makes me more confident then someone who does a few a week tops. Congrats on your family Dad!
