I couldn't tell how big the frog is - let's hope he hates it.

Ruthy, you're one brave woman! You are just determined to get that boy to enjoy being loved on! In my experience, it does work best to wait for them to want it, but patience is the hard part!

It probably won't be big enough for him becausehe is rather a large boy but when I'm in town on thursday I'll go in the charity shops and see if I can find something better. Brave yes, stupid no, I hold him at arms length He has a habit of being able to twist his whole body round and get you at any angle.I think yesterday everything got to me a bit but I have to be positive, I know I will get bad days.x

Ruthy, I just suddenly had a thought you're not trying to pick him up and cuddle him? or pat him and fuss over him all the time are you? Some cats aren't fussy, cuddly cats and I've had cats that despise being picked up. I think the best method would be to ignore him and to definitely avoid picking him up or fussing over him. it sounds as though it's just rarking him up. (OT, didn't know rarking wasn't a real word..lol)

No, not at all, I would not be able to, he would literally tear me to shreds, I just got a bit fed up the other day and after trying everything I picked him up and talked to him like a baby, hmmm, that didn't work either Yes I love the word rarking. So far today he's attacked my leg and smartie so not a good start.x

Maybe a breakthrough. He hates the sound of my bunch of keys being dropped on the floor and it works Every time he has attacked someone I have dropped my bunch of keys beside him and he's stopped what he's doin and ran off, tonight I just got the keys and he ran off Yes, I really hope this is the start of a breakthrough with him,I know he'll probably get used to them eventually though but for now, its working.x

I'm glad it's working! that it breaks him of the habit before he becomes too accustomed to the "thud".

I've had a thought, but I don't know what would happen, I've been watching Harvey play with Dizzee from next door today, Dizzee is 8 months old, Harvey is in awe of him and he treads on eggshells around him, he never plays rough and its just so funny to watch them together. Could he be bored and need a playmate?? I don't know tho, would bringin a young cat into our house be disastorous and they could gang up on the other cats or could it cure Harvey or really help him?? I don't know. just a mumbled thought and I have no clue on what would happen. Help again please?? xxx

Ruthy, I think the last thing you need right now is another cat. Harvey obviously likes to play with other kitties - but you can't tell in advance whether he's going to want to play with whatever kitty you bring home. I think that part of what's helping him is being outside. Can you arrange play dates with Dizzee in your yard?????? Seems like a good alternate if possible!

Yes you are right, I do not want another cat and I would be afraid for my other cats aswell as they are just trying to get adusted to Harvey. It was just a random thought, I think yes play dates with Dizzee sound like a good idea, its just as soon as Dizzee went home and he came in he was back to normal again. He doesn't get on with any other cat apart from Dizzee and I think its because he is a baby and Harvey knows he has to be careful with him, my cats aren't playful at all really, they ahve their moments but they certainly would never play with Harvey.x

I think with Harvey being able to go outside now - and being able to play in ways he knows how - that hopefully things will calm down inside at some point. ...and hopefully the keys will keep working until then.
