Whew! I think indeed he is!
He just gave me the gift of a normal completely blood free pee
Now we have a couple of other problems...
One of the problems is a bad diarrhea from the antibiotic; I will start him on Bene-bac as soon as he finishes it. With the diarrhea his bottom is quite sore, as he can not completely clean himself (chubby), and the parts that he can clean, he overgroomed due to the pain from the UTI. So his bottom is a little dirty, and quite red... I tried my best to clean, but he complained soooo much of pain... I tried washing it, but he freaked... I can't stress him due to his UTI... Kind of complicated.
I do have a trimmer here that I am already charging, and tomorrow I will try to do a hygienic shave on him - I saw his vet doing it and it looked very very easy. I will also put a thin layer of neosporin on it to see if it helps...
My poor baby is all wrong right ow

When you do the clip, make sure you don't touch the blade of the clipper to his anus. (Just a helpful tip from a pet groomer )

Poor buddy! I hope he feels better soon!

Thanks Lauren, I will make sure to be careful and to shave around it! I promise to leave the other "part" out of it too

Yay, normal pee! That is always great to hear for uti cats!

His tummy issue might be from changing foods too, combined with the anibiotic. Does probiotics not work with anibiotics? Or do they cancel out the anibiotic? Didn't know about this, glad you mentioned it. I forgot to meniton that Clavamox is what my vet uses for uti/crystal issues too, and when that isn't enough he uses Baytril & Pred. I think it is common for vet to use Clavamox for uti.

Poor fellow is having a time of it with his bum-bum. I'd do the clip and put ointment on it, it will help sooth & protect it from getting further irritated. Just be careful with the clippers, you can cut skin with them. No idea if you have clipped a cat before, if not you could look up some videos on youtube.

I hope he gets over his tummy issues soon! And the uti's better stay away from sweet Bugsy boy!!!!

Poor Bugsy, let's hope his tummy problem does not get worse That's what Teppo got from the Clavomox first, diarrhoea. Then he lost his appetite and went downhill losing 5 oz of weight in couple of days which is quite a lot for a big eater like him.

I am certainly not a nutrition specialist in any way but probiotics should not cancel antibiotics, and you should be able to give them concurrently. It's just that it can be kinda useless as the antibiotics keep killing the good bacteria you are trying to establish with them. I have not used BeneBac but if Bugsy starts having problems being interested in food, I know all my boys love the Purina Fortiflora if you have not tried it (http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CDsQ8wIwAw#) It works like seasoning, and is great aid for sickly cats.

Teppo was greatly pumped up after he moved to Baytril and got a steroid shot with B-vitamin. Let's hope Bugsy wil just have a little bump in the road with upset tummy. It certainly sounds better that his pee volume is already up. It took Teppo 2 weeks to get his pees in order.

When Zimmie had blood in her urine this month (which was caused by FORLS), she was prescribed Clavamox. It worked perfectly for her. Best wishes for Bugsy's speedy recovery.

Hi Everybody!!
Bugsy is doing really well! A bit traumatized from the 2x/day meds he is taking, but health-wise he seems to be doing fine. He is eating all wet - I doubled his wet food intake so he is never hungry for dry food. Right now I am having to feed him 4 meals, as he doesn't eat much per meal; I want in a week or so reduce it to 3 meals, then to 2 meals a day.
He is drinking water, no longer peeing blood
His bottom looked better today too... I couldn't do a whole sanitary shave like I planned as he would get startled with the clipper, but I was at least able to take the dry poop out, so that was good... I also put some neosporin ointment there; I hope it helps. Besides that I bought some alcohol free baby wipes to start cleaning him every day.
As soon as we are don with his antibiotics, I will give him an emergency dose of Bene-Bac, and he should get better in no time

Probiotics do not cancel antibiotics, but antibiotics simply kills the bacteria on it, so it just doesn't work.
Bugsy is eating just fine... no problems there at all...
As far as Fortiflora goes, I don't like the ingredients in it...

Which ingredients do you see as problematic? Is there something you see as particularly bad or just something that is missing in comparison to Bene-Bac?
I went with Fortiflora as it was my vet's recommendation and only learnt about Bene-Bac here later. I think Bene-Bac is supposed to be as enticing, so if it's supposed to be a better product and would work for a picky cat then I might try it next time when needed. It's not like vets aren't known for promoting only exactly the product they have on their shelves.

What makes Fortiflora so enticing for the cats is its first ingredient, Animal Digest. I do not feed Animal digest for my cats, specially for Bugsy and Hope, who have food allergies and I do not know what is in it. I also do not see the need for salt in probiotics, aside from taste. Bene-bac is also 2x as strong as Fortiflora, and has many different strands of bacteria, which is nice. You can work with Bene-bac on their standard emergency dosage as in the package, which stops diarrhea very fast, or in a smaller daily dose, which I figured by comparing the bacteria amount with other probiotics.
My cats eat Bene-Bac just fine, and never had a problem with it... When I used Fortiflora in the past with one of them, I had an "addiction" problem, where the kitty stopped eating unless it had fortiflora in it - it took me a long time to take her out of it and it was quite problematic...

Just to report Bugsy is doing great!
He did have a little throw up episode, but he is fine now
His bottom is still sore, thanks to Clavamox, and he is now on the emergency dose of Bene-bac; it should work in no time.
Aside from that, he is peeing like a champ, eating all wet food he can, playing, and being my loverboy he has always been!
On another good note, the insurance already paid too so the money spent on the ER can go back in their emergency funds savings account now.
I also started Bugsy on a supplement called Cranberry relief, with the approval of his vet, and from now on will make sure Feliway is always on the walls.
I just hope we don't go through this again any time soon!
