Hello everyone, I just recently adopted a 5 1/2 month old female kitten, and I'm having a bit of a dilemma. My family and I aren't sure what to name her!
The shelter we got her from named her Dot, but it feels unoriginal. We've had dozens of barn-cats over the years, so we're running out of names, lol.

When we first got her, she had roundworm, coccidia, and a URI. It took 2 weeks, but she's finally back to good health, and a silky soft coat.

She's extremely playful now and loves to 'help' me make the beds by tunneling through the blankets.
I'm debating on raw-feeding when I can afford to buy it in bulk, so I sort of came here for nutrition advice. I've been reading "Whole Health for Happy Cats" by Sandy Arora and "Your Cat" by Elizabeth M. Hodgkins, and I'd prefer raw food after reading those. For now she's on Nature's Variety and Wellness wet foods 3 times a day, with Purina One kitten formula dry available throughout the day.

And as a side note, I have dyslexia, so I apologize in advance if anything seems out of order

Welcome to our community of caring people who love cats.
I am convinced that our kitties, by their behavior, tell us what they should be named. My Isis was named at the shelter where I adopted her.
It seemed to fit so I kept it.

I look forward to learning your sweeties new name.
Remember, we love kitty pictures here too.

Shelters (including ours) usually give cats names that are cute, easy to remember, and reflect something about them. Sometimes we do it to try to attract attention to them. Don't feel you need to keep it.

Usually something about the cat will suggest a name to you, and that is often the best choice. But don't expect the cat to care about it, or even come when you use it!

Your list of health problems in a shelter cat is probably pretty typical.

Welcome to the forum.Perhaps just watching her for a while and her antics will help you decide what to name her.Have fun with her above all.

Thank you, everyone, I already feel so welcome, even as infrequently as I've been here lol (:

And I think you were right! She's either going to be Bandit or Ninja, since she's already proved to be a reincarnated ninja who enjoys.. re-decorating our home.
Possibly, something that's a telltale sign to her latest behavior: Mama.
Ever since she got spayed, she's been "mothering" her toy mice, but only the ones without tails. She feels they need to be taken to the litter box and dropped on her plate right in the canned food. But then she tries to kill "her baby"

Gotta love 'em, right?

Thank you again for the warm welcome!
