Yeah i love house's with a bit of character. Before i bought this house i looked around a lot of modern newly built ones and it just wasn't for me. Iv always lived in older home's i just like the feel i guess
I love the door thing and don't think it looks a bit scary. It very much suits my taste.

What a wonderful idea for a thread. I have a thing about real estate; I watch "House Hunters" and "House Hunters International", go to real estate sites and look at pictures, and go with any friend or relative who is house hunting and willing to take me along.

I love your house, esp. the fireplace and the flooring in the living room (and I also love red doors. I'd have one, but my house is pale yellow.) I think we've the same sofa--did you buy yours at Ashley Furniture? Ours is the comfiest soaf I've ever sat/slept on, and the fabric seems nearly cat-proof. DH had it when I met him over 7 years ago. It hardly shows clawing, despite 10 cats over the past 7 years!

Oh, I just realized something--our walls may be the same paint color, too! Is yours Parisian Taupe, by Behr? It looks just like our paint color.

They live behind us, and are on a different street.

You beat me to it. I was going to post the exact same thing. Rosiemac and RuthyB, humor a fellow Brit please. Which county in England do you live in. Post the name of the town too if it's not too nosy.

Really? I didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know!
I've since switched computers and Facebook changed their photo viewing so you can't right-click-save pictures anymore, so I'll see if I can figure out a way to get them on here. I LOVE our new house!! (even though it is COMPLETELY different than the house we are living in now)

Pics of our new house. Lots of pics, so I'll divide them into two posts.

It's a little over 5 acres, with the house and "yard" in the middle, with a smaller pasture on the north side and a larger pasture on the south side. Current residents don't use the pastures for anything, so they are WAY overgrown and we weren't able to go into them very well so no good pictures of them. The house is about 1/4 of a mile off of a paved road, and it one of the last houses on a dead end road so only resident traffic. House backs up to dense woods, so no visible neighbors in back, and only one visible neighbor from the front of our house and that's it!

Front of house

Covered front porch

Half of front yard and you can see larger pasture in the background

Driveway dividing front yard (house sits pretty much backed up to property line)

View of shop from driveway entrance

View of house from driveway entrance. There is a one car garage just to the left of the hose hanging on the side of the house that I will park in.

Shop where hubby will run his business from. It will get a concrete floor and insulation.

More in next post....

HUGE back deck, spanning whole house (minus carport) with pergola on one side!

View of deck from other side. You can see me petting their stray cat. He/she was SOOO skinny and sickly looking. Maybe they will leave it behind and I can start taking care of it. *crossing fingers* Pretty little flame point!

Nice little patio that comes off of the back deck. You can see the generator house in the background.

Two car carport that backs up to the side of the one car garage. This is where DH will park.

Living Room. Will get different paint, most likely the same color as we have in our current house. Not a fan of yellow.

Bay window in living room

Kitchen. Sometime in the future the cabinets will be painted white and the walls will be painted a very light aqua color.

Strange they put the dishwasher so far away from the sink. You have to walk across the kitchen to put the dishes in it. *shrug* I want to put a window above this counter eventually.

Cute little "window" from kitchen looking into the living room

Master bedroom

Main bath sink. I want to change out the vanity eventually. There is a bath/shower combo and toilet across from the sink and a linen closet next to the sink.

Spare bedroom, will be the den with tv, etc for DS to hang out in.

DS's bathroom/laundry room across from his room. Sink and stool on one side, shower and washer/dryer on other side. TONS of storage above W/D

Don't have any pics of DS's room but it is very similar to the other rooms and the decorating matches DS's bedding so we won't be changing it for a while.

^Kara, very nice. I envy you the quiet in your surroundings. I like your kitchen cabinets. You'll have to clean them more if you paint them white. DH built our kitchen with all glass-fronted cabinets, even under the sink. He didn't take into account that I would have to clean all the glass.

Thanks!! We have all white trim and doors in our house right now, so I'm used to constantly wiping them down, especially with grubby 11 year old fingers and the way I shut doors (I grab under the door knob and leave marks). Glass front cabinets would be pretty, but I agree that's a lot of cleaning!! lol

I thought I would share a few pictures of my apartment with everyone! I just moved in a few months ago and I'm still decorating, so I still have some more work to do and more pictures to take.

My apartment:

Courtyard area where the dogs and I go for our walks:

Balcony (Ranger & Macy were patrolling the area to make sure it was safe
)

Kitchen:

(still waiting for the baby fish go grow some more so I can put them in the bigger tank and have my counterspace back!)

Laundry Room: (this is the washer area, but the dryer area on the opposite side looks pretty much the same)

Guest Bathroom:

Guest Bedroom (Velvet welcomes you hehe!)

Master Bedroom

Master Bathroom (this is the only picture I have from when I moved in, I need to take more)

Dining Area: (still waiting for Jack & my brother in law to hang my metal art
)

Living Room:
(still need to put a picture in the small frame)

(dining room looking into the living area)

I forgot to finish my post with the man cave!
We call the basement the man cave and we are in the process of redoing what used to be a bedroom and bathroom into a bar room and the Beau has decided he only needs a urinal in there
. But I dont have any pictures of the bathroom because it looks like a bare closet with a wall mirror and an air compressor!

Large work bench with a huge pegboard. Also we lucked out with the garage being big enough to fit 2 cars in the one car garage! We made a ramp and pull the MG up into the work area!

The Beau loading up the S2000 for autocross the next morning. Also the top isnt discolored, he had just washed it.

SO MANY TIRES! The ones on the top shelf are the next set for the S2000, and the one in the bag, Im not real sure.... The 2 stacks are r-comp race tires for a buddies 350Z, but he traded it in last week so we are getting rid of those! And then finally the spare for the kia. Also the bottom shelf usually holds all the race tires for the S2000 but those were on the tow rack already.

And this is going to be the bar room. We have a bar to go into it, as well as there is a large build in cabinet that holds a mini fridge and shelves for glasses, and we may be getting a kegerator but not sure. Also the large white board is the countertop that is going to be covered in beer caps and resined into place. Its about 13 feet long. And we have enough beer caps, but we are getting rid of some that we have a bunch of and replacing them with more unique ones!

I live in mobile home and don't have pics of the outside but you all know what a mobile home looks like. I posted these pics a while back but I will post them once again.

Living Room.

I forgot this one, sitting on the cabinet in the background is a porcelain statue that was made for me, it is of my beloved Rainbow Angel Misty. It was copied by me sending pics and the girl made Misty for me from the color of her eyes to the black dot on her nose. Looks like the real thing, oh how I wish it was.

It's fun to see where everyone lives! There are some sweet kitties in the pictures, too. OMG mbjerkness, you could rent out that playhouse here on the island for $1000+ a month!

We've lived here for over 8 years. My husband is acting like the paparazzi is outside, lol. We rent the main floor (and basement); the upstairs is a vacation rental. Also included some pics of our early summer garden this year.

That house looks perfect for you (I remember your posts about possibly buying a condo)! You must be so excited!

I am excited. It is a great small house that will be perfect for me. I'm glad I decided to go with a single family home instead of a condo.
