Last night, the guys came to assemble the elliptical. They came in the house, went into the bedroom and started taking everything out of the box.

BooBoo walked in the bedroom. One of the guys froze. Turns out he's allergic to cats. He took a Benadryl and I went around and opened windows, hoping that having fresh air would help him.

One by one, the cats came into the bedroom to su-purr-vise the assembly. I tried to shoo them back out, but have you ever tried to herd cats? Doesn't work too well! The guy looked at me and said, "How many cats do you have? There's five back here!" And I said, "There's six back here; look under the bed." And there was Amber Louise peering out. The guy just laughed and shook his head.

But the other guy said, "You know, I didn't see cats when we came in. And I didn't smell cats when we came in. I would have never known you had a cat, let alone six of 'em!"

And that's what we want to hear. That's why I clean the litterboxes and do everthing I do. Because I want people to say that they don't smell "cat".

Good job!! That's the best compliment you can give a cat person. And, don't you just love it how the kitties just have to "supervise" everything.
How long did it take to put everything together and how long did it take for them to claim the box?

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
That is seriously the best compliment ever. Bf stopped complaining about the pets being too large in number when his one friend came in was standing in the cat room and said "Wow Im surprised you cant even smell the cats in their room its awesome". He always has been a little phobic about people coming over and them thinking our house smells like cat or dog. Personally my opinion is if they cant live with a little fur floating around they have no business being inside our house.

I would love that, too! Our kids tend to go under the sofa when somebody comes up the driveway. As soon as people come into the house and sit down, though, they come back out and jump on whoever's there to say "Hi! How ya doin?" People who know us, know they'll be accosted by the furkids whenever they visit, but it can be a little disconcerting sometimes for people who haven't been here before and don't realize that there are several kitties in the house.

calico2222, the elliptical was actually delivered last Friday afternoon; we've just been waiting for the assembly weenies to show up (I don't mean weenie to be bad; I call everybody weenies: assembly weenies, weather weenies, etc.). Anyway, the delivery weenie and DH got the box into the bedroom last Friday and, within ten seconds, BooBoo and Mollipop were perched on top of the box to claim it. And they all checked the box out very carefully this past week while it was there. Molli and Boo tried to play King (or Queen as the case may be) of the Box several times! Boo would try to knock Molli off the box, but she'd hold on for dear life and then body-slam him to try to knock him off. It was great fun for everybody.....including us!

The sight of the litter boxes usually gives away that we have cats - not the smell.

One thing I do, though, is if someone is coming into my home and will be here for several minutes or longer - I ask if they are allergic and do warn them I have cats.
A couple years ago I was just standing next to someone who was very allergic and set off their allergies. I felt terrible for doing that to them.

I can attest to this since I have been to Pam's house and never smelled a litter box and that's a fact.

Six and no smell! Congrats! But then again, we do know how to clean up after our kitties. Mine checks out my boy friends for me. No purring, no relationship. Butzie knows best.

That is the best compliment you can get-"you have cats??"

My dad always comments that we have the best cat litter set up-way in the basement in a room under the stairs with a kitty door cut out-they have 2 large litter boxes....now one upstairs too for our newest little guy-soon to be 3 big ones in the basement!

Fantastic compliment, I have had that before and its even better off someone who is allerjic to them , a real boost and also shows you are house proud. Why do people necessarily think if you have cats you smell and are dirty?

Excellent!!

I love it as well when people have said "If you didn't tell me you had cats i would never know because you can't smell them?!"

I always tell them that when you smell cats, it's not the cats fault, it's because their owner doesn't scoup the litterboxes as often as they should
