This is not so much as a venting post as one that's more for fun. Let's talk about thirst and what you go for first when trying to quench it.
For whatever reason, I'm so thirsty today. My GI tract is slowly returning to normal and my food intake is more resembling what it usually is rather than a mad dash to consume anything that will provide nourishment and be bland enough for my sensitive stomach. So, it stands to reason that, as I've added in new, more "normal" foods, I am more thirsty. Also, when I was sick, my hunger and thirst cues were thrown off and I felt neither -- so, as annoying as it is to constantly feel like I need something in my mouth, this is a good thing as it shows that I am coming around and getting healthier day by day.
As I took my meds just now, I realized how thirsty I was. I literally gulped down my glass of water. And, as I write this, I'm thinking dreamily about a nice, cold glass of milk before bed. It's funny, I go for different things depending on why I'm thirsty. If it's a meal, I usually go for water or iced tea. And, during the day, I drink water, iced tea, or gatorade -- rarely will I go for diet pop (unless I'm eating out or eating something spicy). When exercising or doing anything where I need actual rehydrating, it's always water or gatorade. But, most other times, when I'm thirsty, oddly enough, I want milk! I've always loved milk, but I don't know many other individuals who drink it as I do or who would reach for it when feeling thirst. Sure, milk is good with some chocolate or cookies, but I love it on its own as well. Even when I would eat nothing else (when restricting my intake), I would drink milk. I guess I'm just funny like that.
So, that all being said, what do you reach for when you're thirsty? I steer clear of alcohol and other drinks, but feel free to be honest. I'm just curious how varied individuals' taste is when it really comes to thirst.
