This morning, in the dark, I saw a flash of movement in my headlights coming out of the median. Whatever it was hit my trailer wheels.

On the way home, I watched for it, and I'm pretty sure it was a pretty long-haired calico cat (although I can't be sure that was the right place).

I haven't hit a cat or a dog in years, and it made me feel pretty bad. However, where this happened, there were no houses in sight, so it was likely a feral cat. Even a cat that grew up outdoors has no comprehension of the danger of the highway, and no way to deal with it safely.

RIP, wherever you came from little girl.

I know how terrible you feel - I once hit a ginger tom, and had to gently place him next to his yard, knowing that the best I could do was to allow his owners to find him and have closure (it was the wee hours of the am when I was going home from work).
There are so many reasons that a cat doesn't hear the traffic coming, or is panicked, etc. It could be that the kitty was ill and her body didn't respond like it should have. She probably didn't suffer - it would be over so quickly.
So, I'll join you in mourning her passing, and will pray that Heaven takes her into the fold, where she can play happily over the Bridge, safe forevermore.

Aw I know how awful you feel. She could have been totally forgotten, but you have the heart to memoralize her here where we can send up prayers for her.

God bless this sweet girl.
You have a good heart, Mike.
