My dad just told me today that my parents haven't seen the family cat, Kitty, in about a week. She's an outdoor cat that was last seen at the end of September. Its not like her to go missing for long periods of time. So I'm very worried.

I live 2 hours away from my parents (cat lives with parents), so I can't drive around the neighborhood to go looking for her. I did check the local craigs list and post an ad there, and my dad contacted the local animal shelter, local adoption, craigs list, and pet finder. There's her food on the porch and the garage door stays cracked all the time hoping she'll come home and sleep in her bed. So far no luck. Unfortunately she is not microchipped and does not wear a collar.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to help find my Kitty when I live 2 hours away. Any prayers or vibes you can send this way will by greatly appreciated.

I hope you come home safe to us Kitty

Tell dad to set upp messages on all messages boards nearby: Missing - with description, preferably also a picture... Let them seek actively - preferably when it is quiet, ie at night, late dusk and dawn are good time...

As long as they are seen seeking, so others will seek too...

Not seldom, kids are good at such seeking. They see look among bushes, hiding places, and places no grown up looks up into...

Ask neigbours and people at the places they know she went too; look in their cellars, garages, places which may have been opened and locked again...
Ask twice over any deaf persons nearby (your old half deaf neigbour for example! Ask him to look into his garderobe! this is an real example; that cat was found alive and unharmed(sic!) after 10 days)

If she is shy, she perhaps wont come forth only because somebody calls at her. Not even always to dad or you! And she will avoid people, unless really hungry or desperate.

Anyway, ads of all sorts are good - till someone localizes her.
IF she is shy - a trap once localized may be the only solution.

Lets hope nothing really bad had happened yet!

Good luck!

Thank you to all who responded.

We all said our silent goodbyes to Kitty last week and we had accepted that she was not going to come back, many tears were shed. But...

My mom just texted me that Kitty just came home a few minutes ago. Very skinny and very scared, but she appears to be in fair health and uninjured. I am overjoyed! I've persuaded mom to take her to the vet for a health check since she is so skinny and has been missing for nearly 3 weeks. My guess is she was probably stuck in someone's garage without food or water. Poor thing, I'm glad she's safe now. And I'm planning a trip to my parents' place next weekend to welcome Kitty back home. I am so so so happy! Thank you again everyone for the support.

Kitty I am glad you came back to us safely
