Halloween is up and coming, do you normally give out candy? If you have kids, do you know what they are dressing up as?

We haven't had kids coming to the house in the last several years, but that doesn't stop DH from buying a bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

We give out candy. We don't get a lot of kids. In our town the local campground is turned into the Great Pumpkin Walk. The roads are lined with lite pumpkins, that have been carved at local schools. Each campsite is decorated by a different business or organization. The campsites all have bonfires. As you go through the walk there are people giving out candy. Tim Hortons hands out free hot chocolate. Afterwards there is fireworks. Raina (7) is going out as a fairy princess, her costume has blinking coloured lights. I don't know if William (13) will dress up or not. Lisa (19) will be something gruesome.

This will be my first year giving out candy. In our old apartment, they gave out candy at the front door. I have no idea how much candy I need to get since I have never had to give out candy before.

I don't have kids, but my dog is going to be Big Daddy. This is the costume I got him.

(That is not my dog, its the picture on the front of the bag)

No kids, and the cats will shred me to death if I try to dress them up. No one comes to our house for Halloween, we live on a 5-house dark road off the main road. Which is fine with me, I just get a bag of candy for myself

Most of the kids go to the subdivisons on the main road.

Nobody ever came to the house I own. I can't imagine anyone coming here to the apt. where I live now given it's hidden location and no kids live here.

The 'trick or treat'-habit hasn't really landed to this part of the globe just yet, so no kids behind my door on Halloween. We do have a similar thing going on around easter though. Kids dress up as witches, nowadays also wizards or black cats, and go from door to door with decorated catkin/willow branches. If they get a 'reward' (candy), the reward giver gets a decorated branch. It's something about wishing good luck if I remember correctly.

It's mosty teens and young adults that dress up for Halloween and have parties.

We used to never hand out candy b/c both of us always wanted to go trick or treating with our son when he was little, and then we had to drive all over town for the grandparents and such. We just didn't have time. Now only one of us takes him trick or treating (we take turns *grumble* I hate the cold) and the other hands out candy, but again for only 1/2-3/4 of the night b/c we both go to do the grandparent run.

I have NO clue what my son wants to be for Halloween. I think this will be his last year of trick or treating (he's 11). At first he wanted to be a guinea pig inside a giant clear ball, but I nixed that. His newest choice is GIR. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...ed=0CBoQ9QEwAA I have NO clue how I would go about making that b/c I doubt we will be able to find it in a store...but you never know.

Some of my friends bring their kids over for treats and pictures. I buy a lot of candy and usually end up eating most of it myself.

We used to live in an apartment so no trick or treating there.. but now with the house, I think we will hand out candy. If it's not too cold, maybe we can just sit in the front yard, that way we don't have to lock up Genever to keep her from running out the door. I would like to ask some neighbors how many kids on average come around so I know how much candy to buy. BF said just get a whole bunch, he doesn't mind if there's leftovers, just make sure I get KitKat.
Well, I don't really want leftovers, but just in case, I wouldn't buy any candy I don't like.
