Can I get some little hugs for Zimmie who is having dental treatment tomorrow for the first time? We absolutely hate to put her through this, but we have to do it. Last time she was at the vet, they said her gums have some inflammation, etc. and she needs her teeth cleaned. This is the first time we have had a cat that needs dental treatment.

So we are rather nervous and sad for Zimmie that she has to endure this.

Don't be nervous, he will be fine... Good job in taking him to a dentist! Make sure to ask for NO Ketamine, and also ask for an IV to be put in place, in case of an emergency (this is not done automatically, 100% of the times). Also ask for a pre-op blood test to make sure he doesn't have any issues that could put his life in danger, i.e. heart, kidney, liver...
Dentals are done all the time, and are very important to prevent other major diseases - you are doing him a great favor!

Thanks Carolina. Zimmie is a she BTW. She had to have 5 teeth extracted! Isn't this extreme for a cat who is almost 4 years old? And she still has some blood in her urine from her infection last month for which we gave her antibiotics. Vet gave DH liquid amoxycillin to put in her mouth and hopefully she will recover well. I think she's fine today, but she's definitely not herself.

Of all the cats we have had, Zimmie is the only cat who spends a lot of time indoors and she is the first cat we have ever needed dental care for.
