Hi everyone,

Today I saw my neurologist in Dallas to get her final approval for me to pursue the immune system reboot. Not only did she approve it, she wanted to hospitalize me because she said she'd never seen me so bad. I assured her that I was actually "good" compared to the summer so she reluctantly let me go on my way.

Second stop was the oncologist who heads up the bone marrow transplant center. I really liked everyone there, and the doctor was very confident without being cocky and explained all the risks. When I didn't flinch he said he'd get started on it today. (He is also MAY-JAH eye candy!
)

I gave 11 tubes of blood and spoke with several staff persons. Finally a nurse came in with a "calendar of events" with a tentative start date of Nov 3, when I go for a heart scan and to discuss labs with the onco and sign consents. The "fun" starts Fri, Nov 3. I'll be admitted to the hospital for either 4 or 5 days and then start coming in for labs every few days for about 3 weeks. Hopefully at the end of all that, my body will quit attacking itself.

If anyone can spare any vibes, both for a "slam dunk" insurance approval and for the procedure to go well. Also vibes for my dd, who is a little worried about it all.

I'm tired, but my "cat neighbor" is heating her hot tub just for me! Can't wait!

Thanks for reading!

Cally

Oh wow, that's pretty major stuff! I hope it goes well and you get no hassles from the insurance company, and ultimately I hope your body gets back to normal!!

I've been reading about this. I hope you can get through the insurance approval process and on to the treatment. I know it is scary but you are looking forward to trying something to get better. Many your way.

We'll be praying for you and for a successful treatment. Will say special prayers for your daughter to be calmed and less anxious about everything.

Please know there are major prayers going up for you from all of us here. This sounds quite complicated.

I hope you come back even better than before. Also, prayers for your daughter too.

Thanks for the vibes and support. It really helps!

I just got an email from my "automated chart" and some of the tests they ran yesterday are complete and listed for my viewing pleasure. I am within normal ranges on everything--in fact the bloodwork couldn't look more perfect! (I am in reality a very healthy person aside from this crippling, incurable disease! LOL)

So, this will be in my favor with the insurance company since I don't have any potentially complicating conditions. I'm feeling pretty positive today, and yesterday the oncologist was also positive that with a little work, we can make this happen.

A little funny aside--I asked the nurse about precautions with my pets once I come home. She said, "Well, just don't do anything stupid. Have someone else clean the box, wash your hands, don't let them lick your face and don't do anything that can get you scratched." I mentioned that Brillo sleeps beside me EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT! She said, "Well, of course it would be best if you didn't do that when your counts are at zero, but I know how insistent cats can be, so use your own judgement. If she's not in your face, it will probably be OK!"

I thought that was so great--she "GETS" cats! I will try to keep them out of the bedroom during the most critical week, but we'll see how it goes. I may put a "hot bed" on an easy chair in the bedroom and see if I can tempt Brillo to get used to sleeping there. Otherwise, we'll just keep claws trimmed short (my neighbor said she'd do that for me) and dh can handle the Litter Robot and feeding.

So much to consider....

Thanks for the update, that does seem very positive, and I'm glad you're feeling that way too!

Sending more vibes for a smooth process....

I think the furbabies might help you recover, don't you?

Well, anyway, for much success with the entire process, from insurance approval to the very end of "all of it". I'm so anxious to hear how it goes, especially since I have a cousin who has extreme pain from MS and this could be something that might help her too! (plus she lives in TX)
