Any guess what was in my can of green beans tonight? I hope I'm still living to see your answers. Poor kitties without their parents who were killed by a can of green beans.

It's probably about the size of an average woman's thumbnail. It wasn't small.

That's what it looks like to me. I picked many thistle heads out of the beans on the belt way back when I worked in the cannery many years ago. Of course that was BEFORE they were processed and easier to identify.

In a can of green beans??!! Wow, that's not right. It does look like some kind of pod, spur, but still, it shouldn't be in a can of green beans!

I know!

At least I feel better knowing someone has actually worked picking them out off the belt at the cannery! I guess I should count my lucky stars it wasn't some mouse foot. I think I will get frozen from now on.

You have such a clear picture, add a picture of the can of beans and contact the company. They should at least refund you the cost of the beans. Personally....I DO choose frozen veggies over canned if I can't get fresh. Funny that you mentioned mouse...have a cannery story and green beans concerning that also, for some other time!

It looks like some sort of seed head to me as well. Its really easy to grow green beans-they do not need alot of space either!

Yuck! We get all sorts of weird things on the vegetables from our garden, but I can't say I've ever found anything like that in canned vegetables.

I would contact the company about the thistle.

We've survived our thistle poisoning episode. I will probably write the company but I don't think I want any of their coupons!
