My house is infested by flease because our roommate brought home an infested PIT BULL. ( Needless to say it has been stolen so it is gone) But the pit left a few of his un-welcomed buddies at our home so now they are all over and my kitten and mother cat has them all over what do I use!!!!! HELP!

how old is the kitten? It is important that the fleas don't bite them too much. I use advantage on my kittens and adults. You can get that at your vet. you might want to use a fogger in the house. Make sure to read the labeling carefully to see how long you and the animals need to leave the house.

I hope that mommy and kitten will be fixed soon
there are an awful lot of kitties out there that need homes. www.petfinder.com

I would call your vet and ask him which fogger he would recommend. Then I would remove your animals for the duration of the procedure and fog your home, following all the directions carefully. Once it has been fogged, I would air out your home, vacuum your rugs repeatedly and then flea treat your cats with Advantage or Frontline or another spot on flea treatment. Washing bedding, clothes, and scrubbing down furniture will also work.

Good luck it is flea season-

Please please please please reconsider the Hartz. If you use it, watch your cats extremely closely for adverse reactions. A Hartz flea collar nearly killed Socks when she was about six months old. We didn't know the danger and by the time we got her to the vet it was almost too late. She lost a good portion of her fur and had scabs all over. I almost lost my kitty that night and I don't want it to happen to anyone else. So please watch your kitties closely and wash it off/take them to the vet if anything strange happens.

I would really suggest Advantage or Frontline. They cost more, but I haven't heard as many horror stories about them as I have about the over the counter kinds of flea treatment.

We bought a carpet spray from our vet last year that worked really well... we had to remove the animals from the house all day and vacuum it really well, but it worked very good.

Good luck fighting those fleas!

are the kitties fixed? If you can't afford a vet you might want to talk to the aspca about low cost vets and spay and neutar programs. Cats need to go to vets. If you can afford a computer and the internet you can afford a vet

No, don't say you are a horrible mother!!!! I'm sure you give your kitties loads of love and you seem to care about them deeply.
I'm very thankful that you took them off.

I've found that owning cats is a learning experience. Socks is my first, and I have made lots of mistakes (declawing, Hartz products, disciplinary problems...)
But the people here at The Cat Site have never judged me harshly and have explained to me what I was doing wrong and why. That's why I love this place, and I think it was very responsible of you as a pet owner to come post a question about your pets.
I've done so many things wrong, and at points I feel like a horrible mommy to Socks, but I've learned so much from her and from people, that I know next time.

If you talk to Hissy, I think she said that she's worked out various payments with vets before. Ask the vet if they need the office cleaned, the grass cut, anything you can do in return for him/her to treat your pets.

Best of luck!
-Jenn
