If I did that as Siri's voice I'd be banned... She does not like other cats and is verbally abusive.

I guess I'm not imaginative enough in that way.

I don't call myself 'mommy' and I hate it when my sister call me my cats' mom. I'm fine with others doing so though. A friend of mine always called his (and sometimes mine) cats 'daddy's darlings' but I think it was in a sarcastic way..
I never write pretending to be one of my cats unless it's a short comment for a picture etc. If they could speak, I think Tomu and Kuura would speak like Lolcats (icanhazcheeseburger), and Utu & Luna would be correcting them all the time or even speaking very old fashioned english, you know like "oh where art thou my love" etc., they are Brits after all.

The only place I regular see that is Catster, and that website is specifically set up as from the pet's perspective. When you post on their forums it's not under a username, it is under your pet's name (or you choose which pet you want to post as, if you have set up profiles of more than one.)
I don't have a problem with it as long as they use mostly regular English rather than typing in lolcat speak.

I refer to myself as "mommy" when I'm talking to my cats. I don't think it is strange at all!

Meh. My nickname elsewhere online is UmmSqueakster, which is mother of the Squeakster in arabic. My nickname for my husband is AbuS. I frequently refer to us as kitty mommy, kitty daddy and kitty baby. And when my parents visited this weekend, I told Squeaky to say hi to her grandparents.

AbuS will frequently narrate for Squeaky as she wanders around the house doing her daily rounds. And I make lolcats featuring my baby.

Yes, I'm a crazy cat person, and I'm not ashamed of it

We are definitely daddy and mommy - my husband and I - to the cats. And we talk for them. A lot of it is like this:

"Daddy daddy daddy! Hey! I want to sit there! Wait.. no .. I don't .. but leave it open, hey bird..." Mandarin is very easily distracted, and his body language speaks for itself, but sometimes I have to speak for him because Daddy is distracted by tv or newspaper or food or computer.

Majel is so vocal we don't really have to speak for her.

Spring and Sweetpea are our baby loves
So we do call ourselves their parents and our children are our cats, lol

We do tend to talk to them in their voices--and end up getting talked to back!
Spring, though is the talker in our house, lol.

Hubby is daddy, and I am mommy to our kitties. Sometimes I talk for them, sometimes he does too
But we dont post on boards as our cats. I was on catster for a little bit posting as our RB kitty Tigger on occasion but it drove me crazy.

I consider my cats my kids. I don't have actual skin kids, and my pets are the closest that I'll ever get. I love my cats and I spoil them. And I consider myself their "Meowmy"

I don't dress them up, but I do spend lots of time with them, I worry about them, and I give them cuddles and kisses. I even include them when I sign Christmas cards and such.

I guess you better be scared of me too then, because my cats and dog are the closest thing to kids I have, and I am guilty of the whole talking for them thing. It's all in fun, and it's when they do something that's just so darn cute. I love them like they are my children, and although I know cats and dogs are intelligent, they're still my cute fur kids.

So, if anyone who is scared, or annoyed, or offended saw my post with pics of my cats where I had a little quote from them for each pic, sorry, because I had no idea it would be a big issue. I will refrain from doing so in the future, since I posted that thread in the Cat Lounge Pic area, and I thought it was okay. My apologies.

My humble opinion is there are serious posts and subjects where the "catspeak" or whatever it's called would not be appropriate, but I didn't think the entire forum was serious. I don't dress my animals up, but guilty as charged for being mommy and sometimes "pretending" my little fur kids have a little kid's voice.

I guess I picked it up from being on greyhound boards where its very common. We mean no disrespect to our animals or humans. And, for my part at least, it is in no way a lack of understanding the depth of intelligence of cats and dogs. So, I hope you don't hold it against me. Please do take it in the lighthearted way it's intended, for goodness sakes, because it's done with intention of having fun--certainly not a reason to fear or judge a person negatively.

I don't know anyone who didn't wish their animals could talk to us, even in serious moments like when they are ill and can't tell us what's wrong. I have a hard time seeing what the big deal is if we pretend once in awhile--ever see any cute animal movies or commercials where they talk? Same idea, different medium.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I find people talking like their pets more entertaining than anything but not in large doses because sometimes I have to read things three or more times to understand it.

I do refer to myself and Bf as mommy and daddy to all the pets. When Bf comes home from work I can literally read there body language as saying "OMG DADDY DADDY DADDY...DADDYS HOME" (yes they are screaming it lol) I swear if they could actually talk both the dogs would sound like little 6 yr old boys, Hercules would sound like a dignified british man, Fatman would sound like a 4 yr old girl (hes the biggest sissy there is) and GiGi would sound like a cross between Paris Hilton and some random valley girl on Rodeo Drive in Ca. I am guilty of talking to all my pets too, but normal not in baby speak or anything like that because if I would try that they look at me like Ive grown horns and turned green. I do have to give them credit for being smarter than most people give any animals credit for.

I am Mollipop's Mama....that's just the way it is. She's a baby and she's long gone now from her kitty mom. We are all she has at this point. So yes, I'm her Mama and DH is her Papa (Pawpurr). We celebrate Meowmie's Day for Mother's Day and Pawpurr's Day for Father's Day.

I seldom speak "cat" but there are times when I will. I did for Banshee from time to time, but always using correct grammar....Queens know proper grammar; at least I always thought so.

When I did my college internship, I was away during the week and came home on weekends. DH made sure to send me cards "From the RugCats" or "From the Kids", things like that. With pawprints for signatures. Some of my cards were just "From the Snooty Tabby" (Banshee).
DH always thought Banshee had a bit of an attitude.

Our furkids always buy Christmas presents for their parents.

I don't go to boards much where the animals "post" largely because it can get confusing sometimes.

Well 4 of my cats actually think I AM their mother so I don't think it is strange... I raised them from 2-3 week old babies and bottle fed them and they don't treat me like I'm a human, they interact with me as if I am a cat and their actual mother.

I have made a few 'icanhascheezburger' pictures and I used that type of wording for those, but I don't speak in the lolcat type (or 'Meow Chat' and 'Woof Chat' as it used to be called on Usenet back before lolcats existed!) on forums. I do sometimes post from my cats' POV on Catster but I use regular spelling/grammar because I find it too hard to read posts that are written like that.

Yeah, it is hard to read sometimes. It takes awhile to decipher the greyhound posts. I never went to Catster before, actually never heard of it.

I don't baby talk to my animals though. I'm not good at doing that--I sort of talk for them though, as if they're talking to DH as a 4-5 yr old, just joking around. Usually it's when DH is getting something to eat, and there are Pirate, our one eyed wonder, and Harley, our greyhound, sitting at his feet, staring DH down. I'll impersonate our two notorious food beggars, and ask DH for a bite of his food.

One of the sweetest things DH did for me the first year or two after we were married was give me a Mother's Day card from Harley and the kitties. (we're human childless, married 5 yrs) He signed all their names in handwriting that looked like a first grader would use, and drew paw prints with each name.

I was so touched.
The front of the card was addressed to "Mommy" in the 1st grader handwriting.
