Why do people do this?

My mum told me this morning that her friends neighbours have moved house, and have left their german shepherd behind.... they couldn't take it with them so, they've left it in the house and come back every day to feed it.

So, they're offering it FREE to anyone who'll take it and the doggie has pedigree papers and everything!

Now of course, I'm pretty sure none of you can take as i seem to be the only person from KL here... BUT it makes me SO angry when people do this!!

I mean it's not like they didn't know they were moving. They must have had at least a couple of months... God, it makes me so mad.

And what's even worse is the poor doggie is probably over the moon to see the people who have just ditched him/her whenever they turn up to feed it.

really atrocious how some people can be so evil!

*just venting.....

OMG Suraya! I would be venting about that as well!
Dogs especially GS's need LOTS of exercise, I run around with my 2 GS's at least twice a day. You can't just keep a dog in a house, it needs people, this really saddens me, could you ring the SPCA or something, to say a dogs left alone in a house?

Godd Luck! and I hope the wee thing finds a nice home.

Actually it's not a bad idea... i could ring the SPCA, but see, technically it still is their dog. And they are feeding it. I think they've left it in the garden.

What PIGS!!!

What a day!! Anyway, i've emailed everyone i know to ask if they know anyone who might want a poochie... Hopefully someone will offer it a home. I'd think for the moment it might be better off where it is so long as it's being fed everyday as the SPCA in malaysia is not the best place for any dog.

This makes me so angry. What is wrong with people??!!
They could at least call the shelter to have them pick him up. Ugh.

Yeah... exactly! and to think they probably spent hours wrapping their crockery in newspaper but couldn't find the time to rehouse the poochie.

Sickos.

When we lived in Alaska, I used to go into people's yards and cut the chains off their abused dogs and I would put them into a van and take them away and place them into better homes. We lived out in the bush and huskies were routinely abused in the area we lived in. It was a common and sad sight to see

well the dog isn't chained... if none of my friends or their friends come through... I'll call the spca. but like i said, it is still being fed, and looked after by it's so called 'owners' ... and the house has a porch where it sleeps etc so its not exposed to the rain and malaysia is a pretty temperate country.

how awful!!!!! They could have least taken the dog to a shelter!!!

My doggies are "chained" outside but they are on very very longggggg runners and get lots of love and food everyday.

I don't know how someone can just leave a dog behind

Well, I think you have responsibility when you take a pet into your family. I don't understand why these people didn't find a new home, where they could bring their dog with them. Why do people think they can just throw their pets away like an old used piece of furniture. If I had to move, I wouldn't move into a place that wouldn't allow me to bring my pets with me. I know it's a little harder with dogs than cats, but I know if a person really loves and values their pets they will not just give them up, because they are moving.

I'm glad that they are thoughtful enough to at least come feed the dog, though. So, they haven't totally abandoned it.

I don't blame you for being upset. German Shepherds are my favorite breed of dogs, I own one, but no matter what kind of dog it is, noone should treat their pets like this!

people are scum.. but that is what humanity has
come to.. treating God's beautiful creatures with
the outmost disrespect and cruelty.

It's the world we live in.. and maybe one day
we'll all get nuked so some better more compassionate
beings can replace us and end all the suffering
we see and have seen everyday since our inception!

Not all people are scum, and I sincerely hope the world does not get nuked!!! Please refrain from saying things like that!

Yes...there are alot of horrible, horrible people on this earth...but there are also alot of very kind decent human beings who more than make up for the bad ones in this world (meaning the world as a whole deserves to survive, not be nuked because of the bad in it...I am not saying anything "makes up" for what these people do) As a whole we are good decent people....and nuking the whole world just to wipe out the horrible ones is a rather cruel thought. I think the world is worth saving because of the good people in it. Let God himself take care of the punishment for the bad.

Now let's go back to the discussion of the poor dog who was left by his owners. Any further comments on if the world should be nuked can be directed to the IMO forum here. Thank you.
