My kitten who the vet thinks has FIP can not use her back legs well at all this morning. Does anyone have any experience with this? She is eating some but she will only eat meat baby foods no kitten food dry or wet. The vet said that is fatal and he doesn't know how long she will live. He said there was a treatment but she would either respond or it would accelerate her decline. Does anyone know anything about the treatment?

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

I replied on your other thread. I don't have any experience with it, but many here have. Here's the link to the threads when I did a search: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sea...archid=2935815

Thank you. She is not doing well this morning. She is just laying in the bed watching my other cats play. She fell down in the liter box this morning. I feel really awful for her.

I have been reading about some of the treatments. She is having some neuro symptoms difficulty using back legs and wobbly. The vet also said he said some sign when he looked into one of her eyes. I think we are going to go back to the vet today to talk about treatments. He gave her a shot and clavamox yesterday to see if it was just an infection but she seems worse today.

I am so sorry - sending you and your kitten my prayers - but at least your kitten knows she is loved.

I'm so sorry about your kitten. Yes FIP is fatal you can only treat empirically (based on symptoms). There is no cure, and no positive test for it (except necropsy after)
From all I have read, and been through with others who have gone through this, the only thing to do is keep an eye on her quality of life and let her go when that quality of life deteriorates. I'm so sorry.
I live in dread of it myself, having a kitten of 15 weeks old. It's one of the reasons I didn't ever want to adopt a kitten again.
All paws crossed for you and your baby that she doesn't suffer too much.
Here is a good source of info on FIP

we lost one of our guys to the dry form of FIP last december, it was a horrible experience all around. i force-fed him for 6 weeks before he eventually passed away.
he went downhill very quickly after he started showing neurological symptoms, he woke up very wobbly and couldn't stand on the day he passed away.
i found some very interesting info on FIP in this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com...ress=243x37691
i have a thread in this section about our little gilly when he was so sick. he lived almost exactly 3 weeks from his diagnosis.
i hope that your kitten does not have FIP. hoping for the best for you

We went back to the vet this afternoon and Runt was given fluids sc, dexamethasone sc, and baytril sc. My vet says he thinks more likely than not it is FIP but there are no conclusive tests until death and that doesnt really help us now so we are going to try this and go back in 24 hours. We didnt want to leave her there in case she passed away.
