Look what followed me home from the shelter...

These two little ones are not doing well. They are both very afraid of people, although they both settle down well if you cuddle up with them. I volunteered to bring them home for a while in hopes of getting them socialized.

Sweetness

Light

Sweetness is a male, believe it or not. And light is a little girl, trapped in the big trapping push last week.

Sweetness is a little purr monster. And he's starting to get curious about the rest of the house. I know they're playing in the bathroom, where they both are; their toy mousie was pushed under the door, out into the hall, and stuff was knocked over or pushed off the counter.

Sweetness actually purred when I held her a few minutes ago, and wasn't struggling to get away.

Sweetness reminds me of Tumbles! They're both adorable, though, and you'll soon work your magic with them and have them loving people soon!

Dottie and I have both been spending time with them. Sweetness actually came out to greet Dottie this morning from his hiding place behind the toilet, and Light didn't cringe away from me when I reached in to pet her. She WILL purr loudly if you pick her up and cuddle her. Sweetness wants to get out and play with Flambe, who keeps sticking his paws under the door and trilling at him.

Sweetness has what I think of an "old man" face. It's not a "kitten" face. He looks like he's already had a rough life, but he's not an unhappy or difficult kitten.

Sweetness and Light are beautiful cats. Good luck in socializing them. Looks like things are off to a great start.

They look so precious. I'm sure if anyone can teach them love and trust, you and Dottie can. Best of luck to all of you!!

That little poot Sweetness (the tabby) got out of the bathroom this morning. He's somewhere in the main part of the house, but I can't find him. Of course, he's very small, so he can get lots of places. I suspect he's behind the entertainment center.

It's not a big deal. He can't go anywhere, so I'm not too worried yet. And he dearly loves Flambe, so he'll come out to play eventually.

Sneaky little monkey Flambe will have to call him

Well, we finally realized Sweetness was actually a female, too. The paperwork was wrong.

We took them back to the shelter several weeks ago. They huddled together in fear at first, but they improved over time. Dottie and I went in to cuddle with them on a regular basis.

Finally, yesterday morning, three ladies came in looking for a cat. The had a number of them brought into the "meet and greet" room, but none of them "clicked." Finally, when they brought Sweetness in, she promptly jumped in the grandma's lap! Last thing I would have expected! Anyway, they adopted the little poot. She can be very friendly, and if she feels secure (and doesn't have Light to lean on), she may be as cuddly as they think she is. She slept on our bed before we took her back to the shelter, so I hold out hope.

One (probably) final update to this story.

A family came in to the shelter today and adopted Light. She's still timid, but she loves to be cuddled and has a ground-shaking purr. I'm hoping she'll settle in well; there ARE children in the family, and she's been a little overwhelmed by children in the past.

A follow-up checkup on Sweetness looks good, too. She has closely bonded with the grandmother in the family that adopted her and is granny's constant companion.

Congratulations to you and the two of them! I hope they have found their forever homes!
