No I dont drink, I used to but my late OH used to like a drink when we went out so it was always me that drove home so through the years I drank less and less untill in the end not at all. I think if I had half a glass of wine now I would be on the floor

no alcohol but I drink a lot of brewed iced tea. I imagine I'll have a nasty bout with headaches if I ever go caffeine free! I'm sticking with caffeinated tea though--decaf tastes too weak.

I just celebrated 2 1/2 yrs clean September 28th. After 2 bouts in jail for DUIs and then treatment court I cleaned my act up granted I don't consider myself an alcoholic because even when I was drinking I maybe drank twice a month but my problem was drugs and I needed to quit drinking because it enabled my drug use. I don't miss drinking or anything like that whatsoever and it doesn't bother me if people are around who are drunk or drinking.

I did in my wild twenties but with two alcoholics in the family (my oldest sister and my youngest sister) I decided I didn't want to take any chance that I may have the disease, so I don't drink at all anymore.

I have a friend who has a bad caffeine addiction. She drinks diet coke like I drink water, and then wonders why she has trouble sleeping.

Even when we climb mountains she brings one bottle of flavored water, and three bottles of diet coke.

Sometimes. Never to excess. I may go for over a week or a month without any kind of alcohol.

When my sister and BIL come for dinner, she and I like to experiment with different wines, depending on what we're having for dinner. Sometimes, she'll come over after a particularly difficult day at work for both of us, and we'll have a frosty beer outside by the pool at night....well, she has beer; I prefer a Smirnoff Ice.

I love margaritas, so depending on who's coming for a bit of a dinner party, I'll make them for all of us, especially if we're grilling.

That's pretty much it.

Non drinker here. Have had too many tragic late night phone calls from people I've known drinking and driving.

A co worker just caught her 16 year old step son drunk and driving. Her husband gave him his car and keys back not even a week after this happened. She has no say in the matter, unfortunately, because he is his step mom, and she is just furious at her husband over this. He thinks that his son has learned his lesson. I think he'll wind up killing someone, or himself, because this is not the first time this has happened.

Yep. I like a drink now and then...especially something nice and fruity on to porch in the summer or a hot chocolate with Baileys in the winter.

How much do I drink? Depends on the month. I'll have a glass of wine if we go out for a nice dinner, or drink with friends at a party, but if there's nothing going on, I don't have any.

Nuh uh...might give me away!
I enjoy a nice beer at home or with friends. I don't drink to get drunk, but I do enjoy it. However, seeing as I'm pregnant, I've quit for the time being.

Although, every once in a while, my DH will have a nice, cold beer and I have a SIP. Satisfies my wanting to have a whole one.

I drink semi regularly. But very very rarely ever enough to get drunk! I will have a beer or a cocktail with dinner often, and wine coolers or fruity drinks on weekends when we are relaxing.
I love Blue Moon beer! And if I am mixing, its usually something with rum or schnapps

I drink once a month with my best friend. I have one drink (usually a gin and tonic or a rum and diet coke. If I'm feeling extra-fancy, I'll get an amaretto sour or a bourbon and diet). Since I'm Asian, I don't have the genes to break down alcohol, so I am allergic. I am least allergic to hard liquor, thus, that's what I drink.

I think I'm stereotypical Finnish when it comes to drinking which means that I do drink..quite a bit (a lot in a short time/during one night).
I'm in my mid-twenties and single, drink usually every Fri and Sat with my friends. We usually gather at my friend's place and later go to a bar. (I drink a lot less if I'm in a relationship though). I don't have alcohol with food.
I have some medical issues which kept me from drinking a while back until I noticed that I'm lot less in pain when drunk.. Not a good thing because obviously I can't be drunk all the time.

Some people mentioned drinking and driving, what kind of laws do you have there about it? We have quite strict rules because we do drink a lot in this country.. If you get over 0,2 from breath test, you'll get fined, and over 0,5 means you'll loose your license.

Someone explained it's because we have so dark here all the time, or light all the time (depending on season)..
But I think it's more because we are quite shy, silent people who don't show much their feelings, except when drunk. And we happen to have good beer and vodka.

I'm British so I do know about a country that drinks a lot, but everyone in the U.K. knows that Finns drink even more than Brits do!

In the US it varies a little from state to state. Legal limits vary by state and age of the driver, and can be from 0.01 - 0.05%. The state I live in is .05%. Different classes of licenses have different limits - commercial is .04%, iirc.

Open container in the vehicle will get you into serious trouble. Depending on state and county, and the officer stopping the vehicle - the driver can be completely sober, yet they can make the passenger get out and get them for public intoxication .
Laws on public intox can vary by county.

Where I live, if you're BAC is over 0.08%, you are considered too impaired to drive. The MINIMUM punishments are as follows:
First offense: $1000 fine and 1 year driving prohibition.
Second offense: 30 days in jail and 2 years driving prohibition.
Third and subsequent offenses: 120 days in jail and 3 years prohibition.

If no one is injured or killed as a result of drunk driving, the maximum sentence is 5 years in prison. If someone is injured but no one is killed, the max is 10 years. If someone is killed, the max is life.

Needless to say, we take it pretty seriously here.

I wish I had all the paper work on the sentancing for Pa with DUIs. I know that your BAL (Blood Alcohol Level) determines the tier you are in and then from there varies towards your sentencing regardless of first offense or not. If you get a DUI while driving a tractor trailer or rig, its an automatic lifetime loss of your CDL first offense or not. If you are caught driving under the influence of a controlled substance (drugs, pills etc) its a level 3 tier DUI which is the highest tier and reserved for double the legal limit (.08) or higher DUIs.
Its a really funky complicated system but Im glad that I got my DUIs when I did because both of mine were level one offenses (barely over the legal limit) and even though I got two I didnt need to get the ignition interlock system in my car. BF had 3 level 3 DUIs in one year and not only did he lose his license for a year but PennDOT took it for 5 more years and he has a year of the ignition interlock when he does get his license back.
