The container that I keep my cat's dry food in says: US Food and Drug Adminstration Food Contact Approved Plastic......I'm hoping that means that it's a good container in which to keep the dry food.

I never thought of the problem before I read about it in one of these threads. It also has a lock tight clasp on it.

Thanks, in advance, for letting me know.

The only reference I can find for the label is a Van Ness dog/cat food plastic storage. Is this what you're using?

Both the containers and lids are manufactured with U.S. Food and Drug Administration food contact approved plastic and colorant that is safe for your pet.
That's a description of the Van Ness plastic storage. I'd assume this just means that it doesn't have any chemicals added like BpA. I am by no means an expert and I'm only guessing here.

If you're in doubt, best to switch to a container that is guaranteed safe for your pets such as stainless steal storage.

Yes, it's a Van Ness pet food storage container. I think I'll keep using it, but leave the dry food in its original packing...then there's no possibilty of plastic toxins leaching into the food.

Thank you for your help!!

Make sure you wash it really well at least once a week. Plastics normally have a horrible ability of absorbing food and moisture and is a great environment for bacteria to grow. Again, I'm not 100% sure about your special container but, plastic is porous and harbors food and oils.

Thats what I would recommend. Its hard to beat the performance of "burped" original packaging rolled and clipped at keeping the food fresh and safe.

When reheating meals, check the moisture of the food before putting it in the microwave. You can add a table spoon of water in the food. Or sprinkle water on it.

I have always kept my cat food in a plastic bucket with a lid. Never had any problems.
