My best friend is going to buy her first computer. I am going to set up her system and show her the basics. Her husband is planning on purchasing a digital camera. Neither one of them has any computer experience. They also are going to want to print pictures. They wanted to know what kind of printer I would recommend. I have used a Canon printer and I have a Hewlett Packard both or ok for printing photo's but not great. Does anyone have a printer that they would recommend that does a good job printing photo's? They need something that is fairly easy to work with. Also reasonable in price for printing ink replacement. If you have a printer or know of one that you would recommend please let me know.

My Epson Stylus 640 is over 3 years old and it prints pretty dang good pictures.

I suggest a newer Epson. You can get them now for around $100!

I agree with Sicy....the Epson is awesome for printing pictures (and other things)...I have the Epson Stylus Photo 1280, it's a wide format printer. The baby sister to that printer is the Epson Stylus Photo 890, it does 8 x 11's and is affordable... The quality is amazing!! It prints crystal clear images and the correct colors...you can see the hair on a baby's butt! - lol! Really!

I just got a Lexmark X75 all in one and love it. It's so simple to use and really does print pretty darn good pictures. It's a one touch copier, scanner, fax and printer. I got mine at Costco on a wallet coupon special for $49 but they run aprox $100-129 in Walmart.

Some advice on cameras & printers. Your printer and camera should compliment each other. So, if you have a high resolution camera then it would be a good idea to invest in a better quality printer, that will enhance what a high resolution camera has to offer. On the other hand, if they are getting a lower resolution camera then there is not much point getting a printer capable of printing very high resolution pictures because you won't wind up using it for what it's meant for although you will still have to pay for the extra... if you know what i mean...
