it's been awhile since we've had a kitten so we don't know if this is normal or not.

our little 12 week old, Pattycake, is bouncing off the walls and driving me NUTS! Seems from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. she is just a little firecracker, she chases and plays rough with our basset hound, she is constantly underfoot. Usually when we pick her up she is immediately struggling to get down. Sonetimes she will cuddle and take a nap on me but usually not. Is it normal for them to be NONSTOP crazy? usually after 10 she will come up on the bed and want to be loved and cuddled and will sleep there all night but last night she came up and just wanted to play. She has tons of toys and we do set aside time for us all to play with just her everyday. She's not an aggressive kitten or feral in any way she very much enjoys our company.

I was just curious if this is normal and will it ever slow down. Should we play more with her? I probably play with her 15 minutes at a time 2 or 3 times during the day, my husband plays with her once about the same amount of time each day plus my 4 and 6 year old are constantly playing with her. Not to mention she is constantly messing with the dog.

Oh, very normal and very typical. Half of the joy of having a kitten!

Some breeds are of course not quite so lively. So if you do want to have a sedate kitten, do take a persian....

Another receipt is to get her a cat pal who wants to play a lot.
You do have this hound, better than nothing of course!

With time she will take it more easy... After about 1 year of age, when she is grown up...

Be happy she does sleeps through most of the nights. A true blessing!

Proceed to be happy and enjoy your furry family member!

Good luck!

(how nice to now and then have someone with happy news, no problems nor sorrows!

Normal,, yep, that's what kittens do.

Since she mostly sleeps through the night with you (my kitten does too) sounds like she is getting plenty of mental and physical stimulation during the day and is growing up just fine.

There are other stages too as she gets to be an older kitten, but oh my isn't this baby stage fun?

Queen Eva is almost 15 weeks old. I just can't get enough of her, and neither can the big cats!

PS watch out for wire chewing as she is getting to the teething age. I was given the tip, here at TCS, to get bendy plastic straws for playing and chewing, and the straws are a huge hit.

I put out only a few at a time (Pink is her favorite, she doesn't play with the other colors much). Check them daily as the edges get chewed up quickly.

Snip off the chewed edges when needed, and when the straw is more snip than straw, throw it away.
