Got the test results back

So I finally got the appointment with an allergist and did the testing for allergies. Yesterday I got the test results back, found out that I have Class 6 allergy to cat dander

I've switched from loratadine to Cetirizine, which I think is helping me a lot more, and the doctor put me on QVAR for cat allergy triggered asthma. She kept on asking me to consider getting rid of the cat, but that's not an option. Although I probably won't be getting any more cats after this one :T Allergy sucks.

What else were you allergic to?

And if she persists again about getting rid of your cat, tell her you'd rather get rid of you doctor.

It is a real problem when cat lovers are allergic. We had Max living in the house, then added Speedboat. When we did my poor hubby was so sick for a long time. No medicine helped him. Our house had carpet all over. We had no choice but to move the cats outside. We bought a cat fence in system that attached to the chain link fence. It worked so well we moved it when we built a new house and moved. Now cats and hubby are happy. He makes out okay to sit on the porch and pet them, then come in and wash his hands. I hope you will be able to find a solution. I loved my cats dearly, but I didn't love them better than I loved my husband. Sometimes we just have to do what we have to do. Good luck.

I got told I was also allergic to cats on Monday and am on the same medication as u the certerzine or what ever its called , one pill a day and they swapped my inhalers , we have Allan , Jinxy , Marley and Lola (they are the adult cats) and one long haired kitten left.

The kitten is getting re homed soon to a close friend but the others are here to stay! I'm not planning to live with mum forever where as the cats are so.. x

I am highly allergic to everything inclucing cats and also take qvar and albuterol.

I used to get allergy shots maybe you can try them.
