Announcements about the recall are at the Consumer Product Safety Commission site here: http://www.cpsc.gov/

Search for items you might have to see if they are recalled here: http://service.mattel.com/us/

My local news site had an article about it so I felt that it might be worth it to post here.

Mods, please move if you feel this needs to be moved, but I urge you to let it stand in The Lounge, since more people view posts and threads there.

And, of course, this means that I will be hauling lots of truckloads of toys back to the warehouse. We were already pretty heavy, due to the "25% off" trade-in on strollers and car seats.

Here is an article as to why there is a recall

Article

I'm mixed about the need to recall that many toys based on the few alleged injuries. Children are accident prone and any type of toy or play can result in a potential injury.

I quite agree with that. But at this point, it's up to the parent to decide if the risk is worth it. If I was told that my child had to fall on a toy at exactly the right angle and velocity to become injured, I'd just be more diligent at watching my child with that toy. Kind of like string-toys and cats.

Oh boy.
I did see that Babys R Us was doing the trade-in a week or two ago. I'm not far enough along yet to worry about it yet, but it seems like a good deal when you need to upgrade from an infant seat to a regular car seat.
