Strange topic I know, but I didn't know how to explain my question. lol I just got two more feral kittens to socialize. One is a B/W male and the other is a totally black one. Not sure if male or female. The bw one has been coming around in just the 5 days I've had him. The black one is not. I've finally got him/her so his wiskers aren't flat against his face and his ears are coming up a bit. so here is what happened last night. One of my indoor/outdoor cats, a female cali, spayed, came into the cat room. the kittens (forgot to mention that they are not related) perked up and the bw one started meowing and came to the front of the crate and was sticking his paws thru the crate. He wanted to get to her so bad. It was as if he knew her. He couldn't as she has been with me almost 2 years, and the kittens are abt 4 months old. also..another quick question. when do the males start to have their sacks showing? the bw one likes to bite..just holds on, doesn't press his teeth or anything. My friend said it must be a male, so I checked They are there and looking normal. I'm just wondering if he could be older then we thought.

You should be able to tell which one is a male by now.

And that's normal, especially for a feral born kitten. They know cats. It's simply the urge to be with another cat.

They got an instinctive sympathy for each other (at least, the kitten got).

Compare with visitors, buyers in spe, to a breedor or a shelter - and very often they do get chosen by one of the kittens or puppies...

Some sort of chemical bond??

When the quarantene-period is over, you will get great help from this bond.

Congrats!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
feral cats are often more social, though of course like all cats it depends also on personality. Our Billy is amazingly cat friendly, he loves all the cats, even the one that hates him.
Sounds like being able to interact when quarantine's over will be great for both of them!

the kittens have all been thru quaranten already. they go to another place for that, then they come here for socialization. I'm still keeping them in a crate as they have to be able to be handled before I let them loose. the bw one isn't too bad, i let him out last night to stretch his legs. the black one hasn't come around quite as well. he/she will stretch her neck out to let me scratch it, his wiskers aren't stuck to the side of his head, his ears are up and no longer do eyes look like huge black marbles. lol.soon I hope to find out if it is a boy or girl soon. I need to pick him up and look while still keeping the skin on my arms lol.

The kitten in my pic is Smoke. We found her and her sister in our barn. they were very small. I thought they were abt 3 mos max. turned out they were 5 mos old. they weighed in at 3lbs. I had them spayed and ear tipped as they were going out to my barn again. Then I decided they were too small to put back out so my daughter took one and I kept the other in the house till she got a little bigger. Well, I'm sure you've heard this story before. she never went back out. she has been with us since. she learned how to go out thru the doggie door by counting how many times it swung back and forth before it locked in. I know that is what she was doing as I would watch her. she now comes and goes as she wants. i do live on a farm, back off the road, and she stays on the screened in porch or on the deck when she goes out. she loves to dogs and is always throwing herself on the ground so they can play with her. it's really cute. I never though I would have cats and dogs that sleep in our bed together and get along. it's amazing. she is a dulited calico, and the black around her eyes is real. she's so beautiful.
