Kittens with fleas

Thread Starter
Other than diatomaceous earth, what is a safe product to kill / control fleas on 4-6 month old kittens?

Does Capstar really work?

What product(s) should we avoid?

Our kittens are ferals who will let us handle them for short periods of time, so they probably won't let us bathe them. We are ready to let them join the rest of us in the house, but don't want the fleas to spread from their room to the rest of the house.

Thanks!

Flea topical treatments from your vet for the <9lb cats and kittens. Since they've been outside, Revolution would be good to use to help deworm them if you haven't done a couple rounds of deworming (from the vet) already.

Yes, capstar works.

OTC products you just go pick up in the store, like Bio-spot, Hartz, Zodiac, etc. Flea powders, sprays, collars, and shampoos - the amount of pesticides in them is often too high for safe use on a cat, plus some (including the store bought OTC topicals) use questionable pesticides that are not really that safe for cats.

Yeah, I'd go with Revolution, or Advantage if you can't get the revolution. It's safe for kittens of that age- I used it on my kitten.

Revolution makes a concentration for kittens 5lbs and under. I'd recommend that, mainly because it also treats worms as well as protecting against heartworms. Heartworms are prevalent here.
