How big is an adult norwegian forest cat?

Hello everyone,

i have been doing some online research about norwegian forest cats on the web (interested in getting one myself), but i m a bit confused about their sizes. According to most websites, an adult nfc should weigh somewhere between 14-18 pounds. however, after talking to quite a few breeders i found out some of them claim their cats get to 22 pounds and sometimes even more. given what i ve read over the internet, i personally cant stop thinking a 22 pound norwegian should be an exception, a rare case....

so, i wonder when a breeder says he breeds large nfc, most likely are they talking about a 18 pounds cat or a 22 pounds?

can anyone help pls?
thks!

Average male would go 16+ lbs when grown at 3-4 yrs old; females a few pounds lighter.

Yes there are exceptions. The big cats tend to have some that are 20+ lbs but that's not that common unless you are overfeeding.

The females tend to be a lot smaller than males. Very popular breed over here so seen lots of them in shows, the males are average of 13-22 pounds, and the females around half of that.
