we recently adopted a little kitten who's roughly 12ish weeks old. She was on purina kitten dry food but we have switched her to taste of the wild. When she was eating purina she'd finish a bowl in 2 days now with taste of the wild it's been 4 days and the bowl is just now empty. I did start offering her canned food when I switched so she eats about 1/2 can a day of nutrisource canned kitten food.

does she possibly not like it or because it's better than purina she doesn't need as much? She is full of energy, bouncing off the walls and pottying as usual.

When you say half-can of wet... are we talking tuna-fish sized can or the little Fancy Feast sized cans?

I would venture to guess that because there is less "junk" in TOTW than Purina, she is more satisfied and getting more nutrition from her food. I would also venture to guess that if she didn't like the TOTW she would let you know!!! She is also now getting some of her nutritional and caloric load from the wet food. Which is good!

Put out less dry and see what happens. With kittens... small, frequent meals are better and you don't want the dry to get stale.

the nutrisource cans are 5 ounces (so inbetween the two). she eats roughly 2.5 ounces and the can says feed 1 ounce per lb for adult cat and double for kittens. I'm not sure of her exact weight right now. She eats about 1/4 cup or a little more of the dry TOTW during the day and night.

at 3 months she is likely 2.5 to 3.5 lbs... which means she would need approximately what a 5 to 7 lb cat needs... calorie wise 125- 210 calories

Also, don't leave food sitting for more than a day. Dry food gets rancid and bacteria laden very quickly. Think about it, every time she nibbles on the kibble she leaves saliva on the food remaining. That can get nasty quickly. And dry food leaves a film on the bowl. And it goes rancid and smells. You may not be able to smell it, but she can. Ick.

Measure her daily amount of kibble and put it in a clean dish in the morning. The next morning throw any uneaten food away, and put down a fresh clean bowl with the day's portion.

This, in addition to the canned food servings.

This is particularly true of the preservative-free food like TOTW.

I noticed that when I switched over to foods that do not contain artificial preservatives, that the (canned)food starts smelling in the trash way sooner that the foods with artificial stuff.

We humans have been using "natural" preservatives for thousands of years- things like salt and smoke!
