I am just curious! How old were you when you got your first cat?

I was 2 1/2 the first time we got a cat who lived with us (there was that tortie shorthair who bit me who was "mine" at my gram's house...we don't talk about her...), a seal point siamese...big bruiser of a neuter with a charming (to me) tail kink. He lived until 3 weeks before I left for freshman year of college.

I was around 15 and got the kittens from my boyfriends family. The mom was the outside cat and the kitens were fed with whatever mom caught. Rabbit, phesent, quail, ect.

For my 7th birthday, my mom let me pick a kitten from a litter of sealpoint siamese, from an ad she'd seen in the local paper. I named her Thomasina, since I had just seen Disney's "The 3 Lives of Thomasina".

I was only 1 1/2 when my mom got Tika, a sealpoint Siamese. She lived until I was 21! I totally grew up with her, she was my kid sister.

This is wierd this topic because my mom just mailed me a bunch of photographs. Here I am at 5 years old with Smoke, my first kitty.

My parents had two cats/kittens before I was born 25 years ago. Mittssy was sort of a second mother/guardian to me. I think by the time I as one or two years old, we had four living with us. None of them are with us anymore

I was 4 years old when my dad came home with an orphaned, black and white kitten. Dad told me to come and see what he had in his coat pocket, and when I looked, there was a tiny kitten face peeking out at me! My parents named the kitten Chester, and my mom had to bottle feed both my brother and the kitten. Unfortunately, Chester was an indoor-outdoor cat who only lived to be about 6 months old. He was run over and died later of his injuries.

I was so young I don't remember. We had cats from the time I was an infant. But the first one I remember a lot about was Little Spooky. He was a big, fat, medium hair, grey and white bi-color. He was the coolest cat and of course back then most cats were a combination of outside and inside. Spooky liked to cat around at night and get in trouble. Always fighting, he was! One night he came home with a gun shot wound. I was about 5 or 6 years old. I was so distraught and angry, my mother helped me write a letter to the editor. It appeared in the Midland Daily News (Michigan Paper) on the editorial page. They even put it in there in my own childish scrawl! The title was "Who Shot Spooky?" I wish I still had that. My mother had it framed for the longest time on her wall in her bedroom. She thinks she gave it to my sister but my sister doesn't agree. Anyway, after an emergency Vet visit, Spooky lived a long full life. He was an awesome cat!
