I have an MP3 player in my phone so my headphones are not the iPod white, but black. They have pods that indeed look like they could be some kind of black beetles or some kind of horrible flying insect. Whenever I listen to my player, I get out the pods and Persi sees them and thinks they are some kind of terrible plague on catkind and attacks them. Of course I tease him by swinging them around to get his ire up and he even shows his teeth. And he wants to kill the horrible black pods that fly.

But I know it is good to play with a cat for exercise. But it would appear that I have created such a animosity towards my earphones that I can no longer leave them just laying around. Persi has already destroyed two of my earphones and every time I hook another pair up to my MP3 player he is ready to attack.

What a cat! Does anybody else have similar stories about their beloved cats?

Besides my BIL & FIL teaching Nero that hands are to be attacked if he's riled up, Neko likes to steal pens. Pens are the devil and they must be removed

Nothing crocheted may live. Nor can bottle caps, pens, or cords. Anything that moves is doomed. The dog's ears are also a favorite attack victim.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I do tease gigi more than the other 2. She is a flying kitty and has learned how to jump on me from one end of the bathroom to the other OUCH! Crochet projects must die too but I have to worry more about the dogs than cats. The dogs can actually destroy more than the cats can.

Lately I have been throwing Topaz's treats so that they land on her, instead of in front of her. My current record is 5.

That's dangerous in my house. I clicked on someone's cat vid earlier today of two cats wrestling and fussing at each other... Tanna started growling and Sho looked like he wanted to find the cat responsible.

I'll tease mine. It's not very nice but my favorite is to wait till one of them is focused in on something they can't see very well and is creeping up on it. Sometimes that "it" is my foot (
). I'll either slightly move that item, make a sudden noise, or my favorite - poke them in the butt. The latter almost always results in a cat jumping up in the air.
The cat always turns around and glares at me (who is laughing) and walks off annoyed.
They're pay back is tripping me, running across me in bed, etc.

I love waiting till Blann has slid himself behind the dinning room blind. His butt and feet will be clearly visible as he sits on the table. I'll always sneak up and poke him. He used to react more but is mostly used to it now.

Another fun game is modified off theirs - hide and go seek. I'll run away from one of them and keep hiding behind stuff. They probably think I've lost my mind but do enjoy the game.

I'll admit it, I tease my kitties
(and my dogs too, for that matter).

My favorite way to tease Cassidy is by playing with her tail. She used to love having her tail pet and played with, but ever since she had a bout of diarrhea which resulted in her needing a bath and her fur trimmed, she has not wanted anyone to mess with her back end. She's still sweet as pie, but I know when my playing with her tail gets her going -- her typical paw play gets a little more rough and if I don't watch, the claws will come out. She won't scratch me, but she will warn me. But, truthfully, it takes a lot to get her to that point. She's just too sweet and that tail too cute. What can I say?

I tease Emory by organizing my jewelry box or putting away my hair ties or clips. She is obsessed with anything shiny and loves playing with hair ties, but I don't allow it since I'm always afraid she'll chew it and then swallow the elastic. And, with the jewelry, I just don't want her to hide it somewhere that it will never be seen again. I am a neat freak, for the most part, and am always putting things away and organizing. And, it just drives Emory wild to see me going into the jewelry box -- especially if I am hanging necklaces or putting away earrings. She gets so excited about it and I've been known to taunt her with a necklace once or twice (or, ahem, 50 times
). I know it's not nice, but it's hilarious to watch her get all head up because she sees something both dangly and shiny. She's like a ferret, that one!

Delaney is easy to mess with. All I have to do is break out the laser pointer and she is already chirping and chattering away. She doesn't chase it like the other kitties do, but, rather, she stalks the little red dot and talks to it all along the way. So, I'll usually put it in one spot and wait for her to get close and then...BAM!...I click it off so it disappears. She then runs around like a maniac trying to find where that red dot went to. And, as soon as she calms down, I do it all over again. She gets really into it and will scream at me once I turn the laser off. I think she knows I control it, but just can't seem to let herself trust that. The other thing I'll do is put the dot on her paw and have her try to bite at it. As soon as she goes for it, I'll make it disappear. It's funny as she actually swallows air thinking she got something! She's easy to get riled up and I always have fun doing it.

With Finnegan, I'm always teasing him. There isn't any one particular way that I mess with him -- it's just always. If he's laying down, I'll rub his tummy which gets him uppity. If he's in a playful mood, I'll pick him up and make him dance. Yes, I did say I make him dance (and, usually, I make him do the hula
). When he's snuggling with me, I'll play with his feet. Nothing gets him too head up as he's so easy going, but it's fun nonetheless. But, hands down, my favorite way to tease him is by playing with his tail. That thing is the foofiest thing I've ever seen in my life! It looks like one of those magnetic dusters and he always carries it straight up. It's almost like he teases me with his tail! So, I've been known to get him going by playing with that tail. I mean, who could resist?!

So, yes, as you can see, I do tease my kitties. But, don't be alarmed...I think they kind of like it!

I visit freekibble.com website every day (almost), to do the questionnaire, and if you run your mouse (or finger) over the little dog and cat, they bark and meow. So, when my cats are around, I keep making the website cat meow repeatedly, real fast.
It works best on Pirate and Sarah, and they keep looking around for the "ghost" cat.

sigh...dear Herman...lol, he is hard of hearing, so he doesn't hear me do this little teasing trick. However.......

DH and I shout Herman's name sometimes, just to see him perk up and look around the room, wondering where the source of the sound is--he always looks the other way from whichever one of us yelled for him. He hears it, but can't quite tell where it is coming from.

we're bad...

I do that to all 3 kitties. GiGi FREAKS out when you just start clicking the laser light she can be in a dead sleep on the other end of the house and hear that click and comes running chirping and thrilling away ready for a party. She has tried climbing up the walls looking for the little dot.

I have ADHD, and my mom cracked up when she read a questionnaire for parents to determine if their child has ADHD, because one of the first questions was "Does your child incessantly tease the pets?"

It was all in good fun though, I swear! lol
My old cat Scarlett always flipped out when I played this youtube video. She would meow and look all over for a kitten. What's funny is that when we got Oscar, I carried him in in a box and he was meowing like crazy, but she didn't even look up.

Yes, I tease Daisy but not in a mean way. I sing because Daisy doesn't like it...let's just say I'm not the next American Idol. Speck and I basically play...he loves reflections and I take a mirror and shine it on the wall. He gets really into it and starts to chirp.

I used to have a cat named Garfield (RIP..I'll always love you). I had the most fun with him. He didn't like to go out in the cold. "Garfield, do you want to go pee-pee?" I'd ask when it was really cold or rainy. He'd growl. Sometimes I'd even pick up his front paws and pretend I was going to put him outside. He'd growl even louder. Ah, the good old days....

But once Garfield got me back. We both like to sit in the same place on the sectional sofa. He was quite heavy, around 25 pounds give or take. He didn't really fit on my lap. So it was basically whoever got to the sofa first that got to claim it. Once he got up from the favored spot to go eat and I saw my chance. I sat down quickly. When he got back, he stared up at me as if he couldn't believe what I'd done. "You snooze you lose, that's the law of the jungle," I told him in kind of a smarty way. And I laughed. He looked at me like you so and so.... Then he jumped on my lap and oof! He almost knocked the breath out of me.

Same here with Arwen!

Apart from that I tease her with my MP3 earphones and she has a tendency to chew them...they still work though!

Nuh uh...might give me away!
Sometimes Oscar gets cranky and it's just tooo cute not to pester him. He gets really indignant when we do. We don't do anything we don't normally do to him when he's not cranky, he just doesn't tolerate it as much, lol.

One thing we've discovered is that he doesn't really mind when we spin him around on the kitchen floor. He will be laying on his side, so we just spin him. One time my SIL did that and he started hissing, but not really at her. Almost like he was saying, "OMG! I'm gonna puke!"
