The power went off at some point overnight, and apparently it was off long enough that when it came back on, the water didn't start running by itself again, and the impeller croaked.

It is silent now, no water falling, just still, even though it is still plugged in.

6 cats inside and no fresh, running water, for they will not drink from bowls in general.

Just ordered a new one from Amazon, and it will be here in a week. Will be serving lots of wet food this week! And I hope that they are smart enough to still drink from the fountain even though its not running.

Uh oh! Can you offer them running from the tap occasionally, to keep them drinking? I hope the new one gets there fast!

I feel your pain! My Petmate's plug in snapped in half,(thankfully not while it was plugged in or someone would've had a nasty shock) so we had to order another cat fountain. Thankfully we had another fountain in the kitchen and they don't mind occasionally drinking from bowls or I might have had a problem.
That your bowl comes quickly!

Getting it off Amazon for $33 brand new including shipping, and already have the extra reservoir.

I actually had two used fountains I got off eBay a long time ago as spares, knew where they were once upon a time but after downsizing, moving, then reorganizing (not to mention a bad roommate that took certain things inexplicably when she was asked to leave) over the last couple of years, I simply cannot find them.

I've looked everywhere I thought that they might be. But no luck, so I ordered the new one.

I expect I may run across them AFTER the new one arrives, as that tends to be the way it goes for me.

I had replied to this from my phone but I see it never posted...oh well...lol

What I wrote was try taking the pump apart and cleaning the small parts. Where I live we have very hard water and I have to wash their bowls and the pump parts in the dishwasher. I use the regular dishwasher soap plus some lemi shine and the lemi shine gets those parts and bowl really clean! All the build up is gone. I swear that Lemi Shine is the best stuff!

I know mine will sometimes not run after cleaning it so you have to give the propeller a little spin to loosen it up.

There is no sound coming from the motor at all; it has burnt out completely.
