on 9/15 my two cats got out, my male who is not fixed 1 yr old and my female 4 years old who is fixed; these are indoor cats.

A guy from ATT came, I suppose he left the door open and my cats left, since that day I started walking around my block, all the way as far as 5-6 blocks looking for them. I placed an AD on the newspaper, craigslist and placed some posters withh no results. Finally, yesterday after a guy told me he had seen a cat like my male across his house, I happened to pass by and he was there, skinny, scared and very anxious, scared.

He is home now and has been crying sporadically since then.

Now, my female cat has not been found and I dont understand where she can be at. I am not sure if she could have been together with my male cat, he was probably looking for female cats, but what about my female cat? I drive and walk every nite looking for her with no sign, I feel really bad as I miss my baby..

Do you have any idea what I can do now? My cat was probably 1/4 of a mile from where he dissappeared (my house).

Do you guys think she can be closer as she is fixed and tends to get really scared with other people or different environments?

Is it best to look for her at nite or day? Its been 10-11 days since she has been gone and no luck! I forgot to mention, I have been visiting the shelters with no luck either.

The streets where I live have big boxes with small boxes where the mail is delivered every 10 houses or so. I was thinking of taping a flyer with the picture and info of my female cat in there, on a side that way when people go get their mail they can see the flyer. I am giving $300 as a reward.. Do you think this is a good idea?

Guys, what else can I do? I need your assistance and advise please..

Eddie

I am sorry you are going through this - it is a horrible feeling when a cat is missing. I am glad you got your male back at least. As your female is fixed, she is not looking for a mate, and as she is an indoor cat there is every chance that she is still close to the house and scared. Certainly put up all the fliers you can and offer a reward - all of that is good.

Can you borrow a humane trap from your vet or a local shelter? Set it up close to the house with some food. I would also scatter some used litter around it - if you have none left that smells of her then use some ffrom your other cat as that will create smells that she is used to and will attract her. She is more likely to come out at night, often people refind their lost cats in t he early hours of the morning, but a scared cat will often not come even to the call of its owner, so a trap may be the best option. Good luck, I hope she comes back soon.

Make sure when you get the chance to take your male to the vet for a good check up. Around here, unfortunately, some stray cats are pelted with BB guns and lead pellets, I had a stray given an X-ray years back and she had them all in her. Not to scare you, but just to be sure he will be OK.

I am so sorry about your female. She is spayed so you'd think she'd be close to the house... the trap is a good idea, and the flyers on the side of mailboxes. I'm not sure where you live but be careful, where I live you can get in trouble for putting things like that INSIDE of mailboxes, so stick them on the outside like you said. That's a good idea.

I hope you get her back soon and I'm so sorry you are going through this

Call all local vets and shelters, and post flyers at those places too.

Sprinke used cat litter around the edges of your yard, for your girl to smell something familiar. An indoor cat outside is usually terrified and nothing will seem familiar, even you.

Put smelly food out (warm it up) and sit out in your yard in the early morning and at dusk. Sit still and talk to her in a normal voice, using her name constantly.

do this every morning and evening.

If she comes out, don't leap up and grab her. Even though you are her person, you will be strange to her outside. Stay calm and coax her to you with the food.

Go door to door and ask people to check their outbuildings, garages, sheds, under porches and trash barrels. Many cats have been lost this way. If they don't want to check, ask their permission to check yourself. Bring a flyer with you.

Offer a reward, on the flyer.

And don't give up hope. My heart goes out to you. While it's not ATT's responsibility to protect your pet's safety I think I would file a complaint anyway. Service people should not be leaving doors open in houses whether there are pets there or not.

And next time, shut the cats up in one room with litter and water, install a hook and eye to keep the door firmly closed, and put a note on the door DO NOT ENTER: SICK CAT INSIDE.

I'm praying for your little girl.

(PS, do please get your boy neutered after he gets a clean bill of health)

I have heard it said that indoor cats that get out tend to stay very close to home. The boy probably wandered further because he was not neutered.

Are there houses nearby with open areas like decks or cellar windows that are easy for a cat to crawl through? My daughters cat went missing once and she was accidently locked in a neighbors garage. Sheds? Old cars?

I sure hope you find your girl soon. Please keep us posted.

Personally I would never do this because it would encourage bad drug addicts in Hartford to steal a cat for ransom. I would offer a reward, but would not indicate a dollar figure.

Best of Luck.

When you search for her at night, use a flashlight to see those reflective cat eyes that are out there! and don't forget to ask any schoolkids if they know of her - kids have an uncanny sense of what pets are in their neighborhood. Sending mega prayers and vibes that your girl is returned to you safe and sound very soon

Once Wessie disappeared for 4 days and came back on the fifth morning. I know how it feels to lose a cat. She is very likely close to home hiding. Remember, if you do see her, don't run toward her or call loudly. You don't want to scare her, and have her run away again. Get down and put your hand out to her. Sending vibes your way. I hope you find her!
