We found a young cat (less then a year old ) the other night( thursday 23rd) . She is verrry thin. We brought her in and she is eating and drinking, and using the litter box.

She will walk around a little bit, but most of the time she is sleeping. She sleeps right next to the food. She really doesn't even look at you. We can pick her up and bring her out into the den, to sit in a chair with us. But she will run back into the bathroom and end up laying next to her food.

We have her setup to go to the vet on Tuesday mourning. I can not take her earlier.

I am just worried that she might be sick. Does anyone have any thoughts ??

She may be just exhausted, she may be sick too... That is difficult to know, unless you do see clear signs...

An exhausted cat would behave just like that - so whatever sick or not, she is surely exhausted and with very few reserves left.

So it is to proceed just as you do, waiting for the vet visit.

You dont seem to keep any strickt quarantene. You dont have any residents you need to worry about?
She doesnt seem to have fleas?

Good luck!

ps. IF exhausted but not severely sick - she is probably astray (or dumped). Try also to set up "cat found" messages around... etc.
She may have an owner he is in despair and seeking her.

Every cat past the early kitten stage we've brought into our home has slept a LOT - usually for several weeks. They no longer have to worry about food and shelter, and they need to sleep. Plus, being rescued is its own kind of stress - new smells, new territory - new people you may not quite trust.... If you have other indoor cats, it's really best to keep her isolated in a room - with her food, water, and litter - and just let her sleep. At least until you get to the vet and get her treated for parasites and get the "all clear" on her health. Of course you can spend time in there with her - but not trying to pay attention to her, actually. Work on a laptop, read out loud, fold laundry, iron... whatever. Just let her get used to her new home, and let her know you don't want a thing in the world from her, other than to provide what she needs.

And right now - sick or not - she needs to sleep.

Since she is very thin, she has missed some meals. She sounds like she is just trying to make sure her food will not be taken from her. Once she realizes she will have food and nobody will hurt her, she will be more likely to be hang out places other than by her bowl.
Good for you for rescuing her.

Thanks all,

Snowie is doing great. The vet checked her out and all is well. We have been feeding her wet and dry food. Just because she was soo skinny. She is adapting extremely well to the house and the other cats and dogs. Everyone is getting along, an occasional hiss now and then, but other wise great.
