Hi everyone, I'm back. I've been busy healing from surgery, doing great, back to dog training parttime and even driving a car again after 5 years. anyway, I'm the one who had rescued the barn ferals from our local TNR group. well, I'm now fostering feral kittens to socialize them. I'm having a ball. Just got the last two adopted out, and this morning I just got two more. My work is set for me with this crew. lol Anyway, I had the barn ferals, and a big orange cat named Orange Cat. He has now become my very best friend. He figured out how to use the 2 doggie doors to get into the house, about 3 months ago, abt 2 in the morning, we were all sleeping, dogs, hubby. Something hit my bed and woke me up. it was OC. I put him back out the front door and he ran around the house, back thru the doggie doors, and was in bed before I got back in. did it a 2nd time and I just gave up. so now he spends most of his time in the house with us. he loves the dogs and the dogs love to groom him. the only problem I'm having is that he has to look at me and touch me ALL night. If I roll over, he climbs over my head to sit there and watch me. If I roll back again, he goes over my head again and gets on his pillow. this goes on all night. he also has to physically touch me with his paws, kneeding me. I'm not getting a lot of good sleep, but he is soooo cute. I can't put him out. When I get up in the morning and go out to feed the horses, he stays in bed. he is so lazy it isn't funny. actually it is. we have another black/white cat that is getting closer and closer to the barn. he/she hangs outside the barn now while we are feeding and he waits till we leave to come in and eat. gray cat and fuzzy and smooth are all doing good. if I let them , they would all live in here too. My abused calico has finally gotten friendly and rolls over when she sees me to have her belly rubbed. I can't believe that up to a couple of years ago I hated cats. (I know, don't hate me please) now I love them. anyway, just wanted to touch base as I've been gone a while. I'm back and catching up on what everyone has been doing.

Mary,
Mom to 3 Horses, 3 dogs, 2 new kitten, OC, gray cat, callie, bella, fuzzy, smooth, smoke

GREAT news on ALL fronts!
SO glad you're back to training - and driving! (Bet you are too!
).

If I remember correctly, OC had joined you guys on the bed the last time you gave us an update - but it seems he's... "progressed" in his desire to be with you, inside.
I'm sorry - being sleep deprived myself due to kitties, I can both sympathize AND smile at the situation.

DH used to HATE cats. In fact, he was so known for it that when we brought our first rescue kitty inside full time and he'd been completly converted (he was already mostly converted by our outside stray... but the first kitty inside full time, and he had to ADMIT he'd been converted
), he actually called all of his cat loving friends and apologized to them all for being so stubborn.

No need to apologize for having hated cats. You just hadn't been adopted by any yet.

You're busy making up for that now.

Are you sure he isnt Healing you? try to count the time, and compare the time of your progress-schedule.

I had in periods big problems with my right knee, something rheumatic I think.
It stopped as soon our oldest cat took as his routine to lay/sleep between my knees.
It happened at two different periods, so Im sure it wasnt not pure coincidence. Thus, I do more then in half believe he did healed me; felt my need and helped me.

Besides, I usually do sleep much better with him lying there. The best is when our younger cat is lying on my belly, and our older - there between the knees... Oh, what deep, wonderful sleep.

Animal aided theraphy at its best.

Oh Stefan, that is an EXCELLENT point! Gary's conditions always make him feel sick. We can always telll when he IS sick, because Flowerbelle sticks to him like glue and won't get off of him.

Apparently you need to be "kneaded" more than you need your sleep.

i think you all are right. I love being kneeded more then i needed sleep. that is worth doing a needlepoint with. lol I think he is so cute. when he is purring i sleep like a baby. it's only when he's trying to find exposed skin to kneed on that it keeps me awake. last night was one of them. he finally settled for kneeding the top of my head. boy did that hurt. he has also tried to use my face which isn't good. I think because he's blind in one eye, that he doesn't always see where he is putting his paws. you can tell that he is my special one. even tho he can hurt with his love, we have a bond that is amazing. i think i just need to trim his nails. that should be fun. lol. on other thing that he does that drives me crazy is he drools. that in itself isn't bad, but when he sticks his face in mine at night he will either drool on me, or shake his head and get the other areas damp. lol. so now i have two cats who drool. so far they all have now started coming in. the others wait at the front door for it to open tho. ok..including OC, 3 others have figured the doggie door. the rest wait at the front door for now. it's a shame dogs don't purr.
