I knew a girl when I was in high school who dyed her cat purple Seriously?

The pink kitty looks kinda cute, but its not right either. That's horrible to do that to her. Makes you wonder who does such things, and then want to slap 'em upside the head a few times and then some.

Good thing it was non toxic. Poor pink kitty.

People looking for attention for themselves....they sacrifice their pets well being in order to achieve their goal.

Yep, don't much care for these kinds of people.

I don't think dying a cat (or dog) is so terrible....it's no more stressful than bathing, as long as the dye is non-toxic. But dumping the cat, of course, is cruel and illegal.

I guess what offends me about dying a cat is the fact that it's done for purely selfish reasons.
And yea, the fact that the kitty was dumped is what bothered me the most about the story

I haven't read the article yet but a lot of "pet stylists" offer dying now in multiple colors. I think I saw something about it too on an episode of that Groomers show on Animal Planet where they all competed?

It seems as silly to me as dressing up your cute little chihuahua in frilly tutu's. But there's no harm done to the animal, it is just humiliating and it makes people think you are crazy.

I could think of a lot of things we do for purely selfish reasons.....doesn't make them wrong. I don't see ANY problem at all with using non-toxic dye on pets. I do think it's silly, but to each their own. Same as dressing up doggies in frilly little clothes (I'm not talking about functional coats for thin-coated dogs). Silly, but harmless.

I did see something about "chalking", and I might even do that if I had a white dog. At least for special occasions. It's kind of cool, and can be washed out easily.
