hi i got a call yesterday from a friend saying he found three one week old kittens in his shed and that the mother left them, what will he do? i recently had taken care of a small kitten and had the formula and bottle so i decided to home them for the night and bring them to the shelter 2moro. unfortunately all three died on me last night, i know i did everything by the book so im just wondering what could of gone wrong? i did note a smell of diahorrea from all the kittens before i took them so i asked what he fed them and he said normal milk. im just wondering could the milk have killed these little kittens being lactose intollerant? or my general care

any advice would be so appreciated , thank you

I am so sorry the babies didn't make it. You certainly tried and have a wonderful heart to have given it your best.

IMO the milk may have given them runny stools. I am not a kitten expert. There are people here who are. I just couldn"t not respond to you. Being that tiny, it is very difficult to help sometimes. I wish he would have waited for mom for a bit to come back and take them all at the same time.

Don't despair too much....you tried. You did not walk away. Bless you for trying.

I would be tempted to say they were sickly and mom left them. Ex friend used to have kittens all the time and gave milk to the mom/kittens and most made it(actually only ones I remember dying were ones you could tell had issues from the start). any amount of diarhea easily could go to dehydration in such a little kitten...the fact 3 went so close means you can be sure it wasn't anything you did that put them down that fast.
to you as I know its hard.
