New Kitten eats adult cats poop??

Thread Starter
I have taken on a kitten age 8 weeks (10 days ago) When I got her he seemed underweight and the owner told me that he had to fight for his food as her other 2 adult cats ate the food quickly.

When my pedigree British Lilac goes in the litter tray. The kitten eats it and it is usually a large poop as my cat is huge.

Any suggestions or thoughts on this please?

PS. I am feeding the kitten 4 times a day and he has gained weight and looks far more healthier.

Thank you,

Annie.

Some animals (especially wild) will do this because an adult animals stool will have beneficial bacteria in it that they "seed" their intestines with. I wouldn't necessarily say that's what you're seeing though.

Talk to the vet. It's possible that your kitten isn't getting enough of a particular nutrient and is trying to fix that. There's also pica which makes animals try to eat things they shouldn't

A temporary fix could be to replace or add a higher sided box or a top entry one since the kitten is too small to enter those, yet. But you wouldn't be able to stop the adult cat from using the regular boxes, too.
