The weather has cooled off, and last week, I had the window open on the pickup when I took a short drive on an errand. There was a funny little scraping/squealing sound as I drove slowly. When I put on the brakes, it went away. Do you know what it was? (I did!)

This is a classic symptom of worn-out disc brake pads. There is a little "wear sensor" on the pad that scrapes on the disc rotor when it's almost worn out. When you apply more pressure, it usually is held too tight to vibrate.
So, I went and bought some ceramic brake pads (the best kind) and put them on. Ceramics are used in racing, but they are also very good for street use. And, for those of us with aluminum wheels, they don't put a lot of dust on the rims.
It's only money.
Oh, and some very filthy work replacing them!
